Hey Playground. I have been looking at Google Wave lately and I was wondering anyone on this forum has tried gaming on it. It seems to have a lot of potential as a place to game. It seems to be both a limited forum and IM all in one. Any one with any experience on it? I am thinking about running my next campaign using it. You can even get dice rollers added into it.

and some specific stuff

Anyway it is playable and among the better options but I hope that in the future there will be tools specifically for roleplaying then it would become awesome ^^

Check out this link: http://wave.google.com/about.html. You have to get invited to join. It is currently still in beta testing but seems to have a lot of potential.

I look at that thread but it was not specifically focused on gaming but rather has some gaming stuff but more focused on google wave as a whole.

What kind of options are you interested in or do you think the gaming community needs?

If you need an invite to wave, feel free to send me a pm with your google email address and nominate you for an invite (that's what they call it because they don't send it immediately).

All you would really need is possibly a whiteboard (of which I think there are a few) and a die roller. The die roller wouldn't be hard to do.

I'm in a Wave game with a few folks from the forum right now. When the DM can progress us, it goes fairly well.

I have played with both on google wave. It seems that they would be very useful for gaming. The only down side that i see right now is that other people could not read your thread(s) without being a member.

I've been playing some games on google wave, there's even a wave indexing a ton of games ongoing, and recruiting. The medium is good, but I don't think the community is mature enough. Of the four groups I've joined all of them have died within about a month of starting, with very little happening.

Well the most obvious is a good mapping widget that shows and updates player and monster positions.

Then I would like to have some convenience stuff, like being able to put my whole char sheet into the wave and letting the computer keep track of stuff like health, atk bonus, saves, buffs and their duration etc.

i have been playing with one of the white boards and it may be able to do that i am still in the process of testing it out.

A wave game sounds like a very cool idea. Someone who can devise a lot of cool widgets could easily make it the new online place to play.
