is there anything that makes thrown weapon damage based off of something other than strength?

Also, levels in Bloodstorm Blade can make your thrown weapons count as melee, which opens up additional options.

There's a way to make the attack roll based off strength, but I'm not aware of a way to make the damage based of dex or some thing.

can't weapon finesse apply to thrown weapons, assuming they qualify (dagger for example)?

and if that fails, you could go into master thrower and make nothing but touch attacks.

Weapon finesse lets you apply your dexterity modifier to attack rolls instead of your strength modifier with light weapons.
Thrown weapons do that by default.

What he said. You still apply str to thrown damage rolls as well. If you want Str to thrown attack rolls, pick up Brutal Throw.

EDIT: Didn't really read the first post...:smalltongue:

same here:smalltongue:

thrown weapons are designed to do lots of damage based on bonus damage on multiple attacks, not so much by getting high ability bonus to damage.

if you just want more damage, you might want to look into iaijutsu from Unapproachable East (I believe). dip a level into factotum, get it permanently, then max it out.

what this does is it allows you to make a check to do a minimum of +3d6 and a maximum of +9d6 bonus damage on an attack. get yourself those gloves from MiC that let you create infinite nonmagical knives, and you've got yourself a pile of (almost) free damage.

I agree with the rest of your post, but how do you get more attacks with thrown weapons than say, TWF? I don't really get it:smallconfused:

Thri-kreen Master Thrower with the Multiweapon Fighting line of feats and a level in swordsage/warblade or Martial Stance (Blood in the Water). By level 20 you're making 26 attacks a round. Toss in Throw Anything and some keen kukri for more fun, and see if you can get splitting houseruled on them for even more fun.

as I recall, though I might be mistaken, TWF does work with thrown weapons, in the same way that TWF works with a 2h and unarmed strikes. you use multiple weapons to attack. throwing weapons implies multiple weapons.

And driving your party and DM insane because your turn in combat takes more then everyone else combined.
I don't allow four armed[or higher races] simply on the basis it would bog down combat to much.

you don't have to max out your attacks; just getting a few with a maxed iaijutsu will do more than your share of damage in a round and, unless you really want to overpower everything, that's how you keep party balance.

Disclaimer: I do not advocate actually playing this character in a normal game (though I did briefly consider a similar build for an epic game once).

You are correct.
