Hey, i could use some help in an undead campaign. A friend of mine is starting up an old campaign with nearly every monster will be a zombie. Not just any zombie, zombies with the "Super Zombie" template or whatever. Allows them a move + standard.

Anyway, we will be starting either at 5 or 6 and I need some ideas for melee and casters that would be very effective against zombies. I will be playing with 2 other people but they aren't very knowledgeable at the game so I won't be able to rely on them for much support. I will probably be telling them what to do most of the time.

Oh, and any must-get items I should grab with level 6 starting gold or plan to get in the future? Thanks in advance

Very effective? Clerics! :smalltongue:

Is it an evil party?

If every monster is a zombie, Exalted feats are amazing. Vow of Peace does not limit you at all, and Radiance gives you a constant AoE. Sun domain is good if you do go cleric, as suggested. Actually, a cleric is almost imperative to keep you swimming in Blessedness and holy water.

For melee, paladins, anointed knights, etc. Also, you might look into getting a poison container on your weapon (Complete Adventurer or Complete Scoundrel, i forget which) and filling it with holy water.

Be sure to watch Zombieland and From Dusk to Dawn before playing, for inspiration and tactics

A specialist necromancer (if you're playing 3.5) could turn useful, especially in later stages of the campaign.

It is a good campaign, though I could probably spin an evil cleric who is trying to discover and control whatever is causing these zombies

That's why I asked... you know, rebuke undead :smalltongue:
Still, you'd risk to give away your alignment; a good party would not appreciate that. Probably.

I could spin that my god is simply allowing me to control these abominations so they are used for good...

As for Must Get Items, see about getting a greater Truedeath crystal. You can attach it to any weapon of +3 bonus or higher and a) do 1d6 extra damage to undead, b) get the Ghost Touch ability and c) Sneak attack undead.

That last one is vital to any rogue in an undead heavy campaign. Without it, a rogue's most useful combat ability is worthless, especially if everything is undead.

ya, that was what hurt the last guy. He didnt know it was an undead campaign so started with Scout3/swordmage1 and he never skirmished. It was harsh.

Oh, and just a quick add-on, I really want to play a Half-Orc in this just because I never have

Play a neutral cleric who channels negative energy then. Easy.
