Arter
[HP: 187] [AC 42] [Fort 33] [Ref 42] [Will 41]

Arter notches an arrow and lets it fly over the battlefield.

Standard: Biting Swarm on Deva 2
[roll0] vs AC
[roll1] + [roll2] damage and the target takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls until the start of my next turn.
I'll consider my move and minor after I see if this misses or hits.
Edit: Wow, crappy rolls all around. I'll stay where I am, I like my range of 25 squares :smallbiggrin:.

Reed closed his eyes, and his form wavered. In an instant a Huge White Dragon appeared, occupying the space that Reed once had. Its wings stretched wide, and the beast surged forwards. Suddenly, it opened his mouth wide and a sphere of pure electricity shot forth, streaking towards Kazuul.

Using Wyrm Form to change into a Huge White Dragon, then moving straight towards the enemies. My stats stay the same, but I gain a couple of different attacks. I also have a fly speed of 10, now, instead of 8. This lasts until the end of the encounter, or until I'm bloodied. Whichever comes first.

Anyway, since that's a minor action, I'm also attacking with an Acid Orb that does Lightning damage, attacking Kazuul.

[roll0] vs Reflex
[roll1] Damage (Thanks to Fury of the Storm, the damage on a crit becomes 96)

HP: 172 AC: 39 Fort: 32 Ref: 37 Will: 42

((Aargh! Okay, so my computer died yesterday and I had to "restore to factory default". The good news is that Grunthor was saved as part of a back-up of personal files. The bad news is the character builder was not, and I have to download it to view the character. I won't get to post tonight (it's downloading now), but I'll try to get something up in the morning. Sorry for the delay :smallfrown:))

Chular Maelk
HP 215 AC-47 Fort 41 Ref-36 Will-38

Chular's form blurred as he raced across the battlefield, before he reappeared in nimbus of light amidst his enemy, daring them to attack him, as he lashed about himself with his bastard sword, his strength boosted by his psionic might.

Move: 7 hexes south
Move: Indomitable Strategem, to shift 12 squares to the square adjacent to Fallen Star 1 and 2.
Minor: Battlemind's Demand to mark all 3 Fallen Stars until the end of the encounter. (Using up 1 Power Point (16 remaining))
ACTION POINT: Might of the Ogre (Augmented with 2 power points, 14 remaining)
Fallen Star 1
Attack-[roll0] v AC
Damage-[roll1] and knocked prone. It also provokes OA for standing up until the end of Chular's next turn.

Fallen Star 2
Attack-[roll2] v AC
Damage-[roll3] and knocked prone. It also provokes OA for standing up until the end of Chular's next turn.

I have very mixed feelings about DDI (and using computers for gaming in general), and this is a big reason. Anyway, Grunthor's stats are in the OP if it takes a long time to revive the CB.

Delay until after Churan has gone, change initiative to 38 for simplicity's sake.

Grunthor

Wondering if he should have invested in more mobility, Grunthor shrugs and moves forward. Positioning himself near Reed and Karoor, he watches his enemies, preparing to deal with whatever onslaught might occur.

Double move, 5 SW, then 5 SE, to end adjacent to Reed, 3 spaced from Kar-oor.

Grunthor can't really do much from range, except heal, and he only has a move of 5, lol. Probably should have invested in a magic javelin or something. Ah well, hindsight and all.

(I didn’t set out to screw anyone, but in retrospect I did kinda screw any melee PCs without “Hiya, me llamo Speedy Gonzales!” powers. I wish I played epic often enough to know if that’s common.)

[roll0] vs. Grunthor’s Will,
[roll1] vs. Reed’s Will,
[roll2] vs. Kar’oor’s Will;
[roll3] damage plus [roll4] thunder damage, and Kazuul can crit you on a 15-20 (save ends). No miss effect.

[roll3] damage and the target is stunned (save ends). No miss effect.

Chular
[HP 215] [AC-47] [Fort 41] [Ref-36] [Will-38] [Healing Surges 16/17]

Caught in a maze of psionic uncertainty, Chular considers his options.

Just a question, did the devas shift or just move?

If they shifted...
Chular will use Blurred Step to shift to square north east of Chular, next to Deva 2, as an OA. It will then grant CA to me, take the same amount of damage as it dealt to Grunthor, It will take a -2 to it's next saving throw before the end of its next turn, as well as being shifted 1 square east.

Chular will shift 1 square east, adjacent to Devas 1 and 2.
Chular will then use Might of the Ogre (Augment 2-(12 remaining)) again.
[roll0] v AC on Deva 2
[roll1] v AC on Deva 1
Doing [roll2]+6 damage, and knocking them prone if it hits, and provokes OA for standing up.

If they moved...
Chular will take the OA on Deva 2, for moving.
[roll3] v AC, doing [roll4] damage if it hits.

On his turn, Chular will then move to the lower square between Devas 1 and 3, provoking from Deva 1. He will then use Might of The Ogre (Augment 2-(12 remaining)) on Devas 1 and 2
[roll5] v AC
[roll6] v AC
Doing [roll7]+6 damage, and knocked prone if it hits, and provokes OA for standing up before the end of Chular's next turn.

EDIT: Whoops, added a +3 to my attack rols that I shouldn't have. Should be +34 v AC, and +36 v AC with CA. My bad.

Move Action: Shift 1 SW

Standard Action: Second Wind, giving +2 to all defenses until the start of my next turn.

Grunthor now at: 171/173 hp.

Their aim strikes truly. I must move to the defensive. Interesting question. I'd say that you'd both be suspended in the air until she 1) escapes your grab on her turn or 2) fails to move 2 hexes by the end of her turn. She won't take any falling damage because her fly speed is 8, but you might if your fly speed isn't high enough. Oddly, I don't see any mention of falling prone in the flying rules. :smallconfused:

While I'm not certain what Artur will be doing, Grunthor's turn is pretty much straightforward.))

Seeing Chular hurt, and feeling pretty pained himself, Grunthor steps to the side to get a better flank on Kazuul and throws some devine healing at both the battlemind and himself. He then takes a swing at Kazuul, hoping to provide an opening for Reed and his currently big teeth.

Move: Shift 1 East (or SE, or whatever brings him closest to directly opposite from Reed)

Minor: Healing Word: Chular and Grunthor spend a healing surge and add [roll0] extra healing. Chular also gets an extra 9hp from Battle Healer. Chular and Grunthor are at +2 to all defenses until Grunthor's next turn.

This will require a little more... finesse. thinks Kar'oor, as he kisses the ring on his left hand. Blending into the area around him he soars away from the deva, the motion causing a break in his stealth only once he's well out of the fallen celestial's reach. He then bears down on the stunned Kazuul, launching his dagger back at the deva to end her corrupted existence.

Minor Action: Activate Chameleon Ring, make stealth check to hide
Move Action: Wind Walk to any square next to Kazuul which flanks with Grunthor (I can reach all of them)
Free Action: Enter the Dragon's Tail Full Discipline

Nice. And I STILL haven't used any dailies :smallwink:

Guess we just need a quick hp check, and people decide whether they want to use a healing surge to bring themselves to full.

Grunthor's down 28 (145/173), so will not use a surge.

If anyone needs me to use a healing word, then it would happen before the short rest begins (i.e. final round of combat), and so not count as used DURING the short rest.

It is also worth noting, that he will not become unconscious until all his healing surges are spent, as whenever he falls below 0hp he can spend a healing surge as an immediate interrupt, and he gets bonus hp to it.]

Alrighty then, where do you want to situate yourselves on the map? Someone has to be close enough to break the altar (you can use a ranged at-will), but other than that you can start wherever you want.

Shular
2010-06-23, 07:04 PM
I'll just mention this again. Grunthor has "Cloak of Power", an encounter power that grants all allies within 2 squares (close burst 2) temporary hit points equal to their healing surge value, and, until the end of his next turn, a +4 power bonus to all defenses versus fear effects.

Thus, I recommend everyone start within 2 squares of Grunthor and, if practical (i.e. if I don't roll badly on initiative), delay their turns until after Grunthor has gone, so he can "buff" the party.

Edit: Does the room have any walls, or is it just REALLY big, and the only feature is the altar?

Everyone within 2 of Grunthor, break it at range. Keep Arter and Reed back, Chular takes point, and Kar'oor will use his insane flying moves to get behind Demogorgon. So, within 11 of the back of the altar for Kar'oor, which means within 13 for Grunthor, and within 15 for the ranged, I think, if that's okay with everyone. Also, we should throw on any buffs we still got now.

Just want to check, for powers and abilities that last until the end of the encounter, does the encounter have to have begun for those to be used?

Note, in a "real" game, a DM could trip up a party that regularly "buffs" up before an expected encounter by making the encounter a social one, then having the ancounter after that be actual combat.

On the other hand, sometimes parties DO have time to prep for a big fight ahead of time, and since this game is somewhat about testing out high level combat, it does make sense to allow for the party to be prepared.

No; I go with 'until end of encounter' = 5 minutes. If this were a real game, yeah BBEGs would probably have anti-buff plans. Like "Go die at the PCs' hands, my minions, so that I can retreat and then hide somewhere for five minutes!"

But pbp solo battles are long enough without buffs, so I'm happy to let you keep them. :smallsmile:

If he succeeds, he jumps into the air after him, and slams him into the ground with his club, at which point he does a backflip and lands back in formation. Kar'oor then lights on fire, only mildly, but the fire will blaze into a real inferno if Kar'oor is significantly injured.

Standard Action: Draconic Avatar, CBlast 5 on Demogorgon.
Free Action: Flurry of Blows
Action Point!
Standard Action: Duel in the Heaves, on Demogorgon.
Free Action: Flurry of Blows
Minor Action: Draconic Vengeance stance. While in this stance, enemies that start their turn adjacent to me when I am bloodied take 5 fire damage.

Draconic Avatar:
[roll0] vs. Reflex
Hit: [roll1] fire damage, plus 21 untyped damage, and he grants CA for my next attack.
Miss: Half the fire damage, no untyped damage.
Effect: Kar'oor gets +2 AC, +4 Damage and a fly speed until the end of the encounter (the numeric bonuses are Power bonuses).

Duel in the Heavens:
[roll2] vs. Fortitude, +2 more if Draconic Avatar hit.
Hit: [roll3] damage.
Miss: Half damage.

Effect: I slide him 5 squares to the right of the map, and shift 5 squares after him. I make a secondary attack.

[roll4] vs. Fortitude.
Hit: 19 damage and Demogorgon is dazed until the end of my next turn and knocked prone.

Effect: I fly back to my origin square without taking an attack of opportunity.
If either Duel in the Heavens attack hits, he takes an extra 21 damage. If the first one hits, the second one gains a +2 bonus to the roll.

Rerolling Duel in the Heavens, provided that's a miss:
[roll0]

EDIT: And I forgot the second Duel in the Heavens attack still does half damage and knocks prone on a miss.

So, total stuff for this round:
Demogorgon takes 81 damage +15 fire damage, is slid 5 squares to the right and knocked prone.

Chular

[HP 180/215] [THP 55] [AC-49] [Fort 43] [Ref-38] [Will-40] [Healing Surges 15/17] [Resist 16 damage]

Chular extends his psionic will and moves to engage.

If Kar'oor's attacks pushed demorgorgon back, Chular will charge
Attack-[roll0] v AC
Damage-[roll1]

Otherwise, he will mark Demorgorgon with Battlemind's demand, marking him until the end of the encounter.

Also his battle resilience has been triggered, giving him resist 16 to all damage, and +2 to all defences until the end of his next turn.

[roll1] and demogorgon takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls until start of my next turn.

Sorry for the long delay, all. I started a 6-day-a-week job on Thursday, so I’ll be more than busy until September. I’ll try to keep up here, but to be frank, it’ll be slow.

Kar’oor pushes Demogorgon into one of the great chamber’s walls.

Demogorgon gets up, teleports, and then gazes balefully:
[roll0] vs Grunthor’s Will;
[roll1] vs Reed’s Will;
[roll2] vs Churan’s Will;
[roll3] psychic damage and Dem makes you use an at-will against a friend…

(If that gaze attack hit you, make a ranged at-will attack against Kar’oor. If you don’t have a ranged option, you’re off the hook…for now.)

Demogorgon uses an action point to focus both of his deadly gazes…
[roll0] vs Grunthor’s Will;
[roll1] vs Reed’s Will;
[roll2] vs Churan’s Will;
[roll3] psychic damage and you’re knocked unconscious (save ends).

EDIT: Grunthor and Reed are unconscious, so it’s my turn again!

I don’t normally coup de grace PCs, but I think it’s appropriate for a BBEG like Demogorgon. He blasts the three unconscious heroes with his tentacles…
[roll0] vs Grunthor’s Fort;
[roll1] vs. Reed’s Fort;
[roll2] vs. Churan’s Fort;
(Remember that you’re at -5 defenses for being unconscious.) 24 damage if you’re hit, and ongoing 15 damage (save ends). Hm, that’s not going to kill anyone but it’s an easy pot shot!

Demogorgon teleports again and gazes balefully at Arter…
[roll3] vs Arter’s Will;
[roll4] psychic damage and you’re dazed.

Oh, and everyone’s start-of-turn daze attack…
[roll5] vs Grunthor’s Will;
[roll6] vs Kar’oor’s Will;
[roll7] vs Reed’s Will;
[roll8] vs Churan’s Will;
[roll9] vs Arter’s Will;

((I am wondering if anyone is willing to take control of Kar'oor for a bit. I am getting ready to leave again for five days, and I don't want to hold up the game.))

Kar'oor feels the time for words is over - no more shouts, insults or reflections, just pain for the Demon Prince. He slides in close and then taps into Demogorgon's life force, and twists it in a knot.
