activating wands is a standard action.
even if they are slotted with a swift spell.

Is there any way short of actually preparing the spell and casting it swiftly to get a spell off as a swift or immediate action?

on a sidenote: can a wizards UMD to pretend to be a sorc to prepare sorc only arcane spells (off scrolls) such as that full cover draconic wing immediate?

No, Rule Compendruim says swift spells are swift to activate (or was it just scrolls).
UMD doesn't care of you really are a Sorceror: if you succeed it activates.

By rules compendium, activating a Wand takes as long as the casting time of whatever it replicates. So...you don't even need to try.

Rules Compendium changed the time required to the spell's casting time. And doubled ninja'd.

You wouldn't be able to prepare a sorcerer only spell off of a scroll, but you could cast it.

so a wandchamber with a wand of (immediate action spell) would work as an immediate action with a flat umd 20?

just checking

same logic: can you cast a spell from a wand into a glyph or spellstoring weapon?

Only if you've previously determined the exact spell contained in a wand (using some means like Identify). Otherwise you'll need to use Activate Blindly (DC 25) instead.
