I've had this week off work so I went out on a couple of day trips. I picked places that weren't too far from me to visit but I've had such a good time that I thought I'd ask about places the Playgrounders have been.

On Wednesday I visited the cave of Old Mother Shipton. She was a witch that made predictions about the future and lived in a cave. There was a waterfall outside that turns things to stone. A big old washing line spanned the waterfall with petrifying teddy bears, cricket bats, pots and pans, and hats, all turning to stone. (They sold petrified teddies in the gift shop!)

The actual attraction only really took half an hour to see so I also went for a tour of the local castle.

Today I went to a place called Forbidden Corner. It was a lot like that Labyrinth movie with David Bowie. It was a complicated mess of paths and walls, one way gates and underground dungeons.

The dungeon was the best part because it was so twisty and confusing. (Plus I wasn't even expecting a dungeon and this one just kept giving!) There were fake doors and water jet traps. There was a corridor that got smaller and smaller and led down to a little tiny door that I could barely get through. Then, out of nowhere, there was a room of mice singing about being scared of a cat and the main wall was suddenly assaulted by the biggest scariest model of a cat's face coming straight at you screeching and meowing!

The place seemed to run on its own labyrinth-esque logic and tried to trick you into taking the dead ends. There was a skirting around the path in a hedge maze which intentionally made it look like there would be a corner up ahead but really it just led to a shear stone wall.

So tell us about your best weird days out.

Sorry about my vagueness, I didn't want to sound like some kind of Yorkshire (UK) fanboy. An attitude that around here is all too common and annoying. Especially because I have to hear about it whenever I'm revealed to be an outsider which is every time I speak.

Both of those (but especially the latter) sound so very cool.

QFT. Where I live is boring compared to that, by far. And I have West Ed.

Near where I grew up is a place called the Mystery Spot (http://www.mysteryspotstignace.com/), a place where wierd things happen that seem to defy reality and gravity.

*GASP!*

I went there! That place was cool. The building was tilty, and pully downhill, and my brother was taller than me, and they nailed faces to the trees!

Ooh! and my shadow was funny wigglyish.
