Not wanting to take over another thread, I decided to start my own on the matter.
This one (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/adventuring/defenseBonus.htm)specifically.

As I said in the other thread, I am working on Stone Age campaign, and this seems to be a solution to the problem of armour in a world where hide is as good as it gets.
But has anyone had any experience with this system? How does it affect the game?
Is it actually workable?

I can't vouch for the DBV, but I did run a mini-campaign set in a post-apocalyptic era in which the characters had not access to items, a sort of New Stone Age. The characters had to fight with sticks & stones, so they used variations on the standard BAB & save bonuses. Here's the chart that I used:
