Want to write for Diversion Magazine?

For those of you who don't know what Diversion Magazine is, it's a homegrown magazine put together by me and a few other playgrounders - Alarra, truemane, Dispozition, cycoris, Dragonrider, Rutskarn, and AJWB. But now, we want to get a few more writers in to put in stories!

We're looking for fiction stories from about 3000-10000 words. Right now we need a few Science Fiction stories, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, but we need a dozen more stories to print throughout the rest of the year in any theme etc. So, do you think you've got what it takes? If so, send me an email at [email protected]

While you're waiting for a reply, read over the released issues of Diversion (http://www.diversionmagazine.blogspot.com)! You can even enter this month's competition and win fantastic prizes!

Go, go, gooo!

I write combination scifi/fantasy stuff. Is that scifi enough for you?

*colours himself interested, and paints Felix's face green while he's at it*

Sci-fi's not really my forte, but I've been looking for something that would push me to start writing properly again, maybe this can throw off the malaise!

A reimagining of Whitefeather perhaps?....I kid, I kid! Will email you shortly for more details.

Felix, just wondering, do you have a person who does the lay out? No offense, but it seemed a bit...messy?

I might be able to help there?

For example, the portraits were great, but 3 words a line(especially with the spacing there) makes it rather not very pleasant to read?

>.>

What program do you/your person use for the lay-out?

I might write one or two stories in the far far future, when it's not science. I'm horrible at writing sci-fi fiction.

sci-fi is my area of specialization! I got tons of sci-fi story ideas, and I am good at writing! you've got the right guy.

I may or may not be able to whip something up!

I am not great at writing without inexplicably adding Shakespeare with a rocket launcher. By which I mean I can only really write silly stuff that's a bit funny and weird.

I had a ditty I wrote for compilation that fell through.

I'll see if it's in your word-count range, give it an edit (I'm sure not having looked at it for a while will mean there's passages I'll cringe at) and e-mail it to you.

I would love to write, but I do actually need some time to make a short story. You're not going to get more than a page or two out of 3,000 words. Are you interested in getting your hands on stories Right Now? Or were you looking into the market for those who will write stories in the time to come? If you're looking for instant literature then I don't have anything for you, but I can create something new within a week or so.

Ah heck! Even if you want it now I really want to write something now!

I would also like a definition for "soon".

Right. Vulion. Because you weren't awesome enough as a artist?:smalltongue:
I really have nothing to say over what Vulion does, but we all know his art is pretty shweeeeeeeet!
Gooooo back to drawing, artmonkey!:smalltongue:

I've been working on a short story and could submit it. Don't expect anything from me for at least a few days though: Finals.:smalleek: The story is more Lovecraftian horror though if that's cool. It's either 3 or 4 pages (you can estimate how many words that is; I'll have to check for certain).

Shakespeare shooting things with rockets is hardly conducive to a serious story is all.

It sounds to me, that they have enough funny as is.

Shakespeare with a rocketlauncher could be pretty nice.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the repsonse.

Blayze - Depends on the details but it will probably be fine. I've sent you an email. If you reckon you can get me something soon, then send it in and I'll give it a look over and either put it in this month or in a later issue.

Banjo - Sent you an email back.

DD - I normally put together the outlay, and I enjoy it too much to relinquish the duty unto someone else. BUT, if you have some suggestions, I'd love to hear them :)

Lord Raziere - Sounds good, mate! How soon do you think you could have something for me? Send me an email and we'll talk it over.

Dogmantra - Silly? Rocket Launcher? Why, you just might be perfectly qualified for this. Seriousness isn't necessarily our forte, our second issue featured a story about Mario Kart. Send me an email and we'll talk it over.

arkady - Sounds good! I look forward to the email.

Dashwood - I'm looking for stories whenever I can get them, but I've sent you an email back. The only stories I need IMMEDIATELY are Sci-Fi ones, anything else I can set a deadline of a few months. Of course, if you want to do it quick, do it quick.

Deth Muncher - If it's Sci-Fi, ASAP means As Soon As Possible. However if its not Sci-Fi and just a general story then I can set a dealine of two-three months, whatever works for you. Send me an email and we'll talk it over.

Vulion - See Above!

bothi - Sounds good! Send it to me in an email and I'll give it a read through. We'll go from there.

Zersk - Is your scanner fixed? If so, sure.

Dr. Epic - Difficult to say - what font, what size font, what spacing? Send me an email and we'll talk it over.

Helgraf - No worries if not interested in Sci-Fi, but if you'd like to write us a story, send me an email and we'll talk it over.

Thanks again for everyones interest! If I told you to send me an email, PLEASE DO SO! - [email protected]

Does fantasy work, cause I've got an old story I could touch up, expand on, etc. by the end of the month.

I'm looking for all kinds of stories - Romance, Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, Lesbian Erotica, whatever. However, IF - and only IF! - someone has a Sci-Fi story, I would like it so I can run it in our special Sci Fi Issue.

For all other stories, please send me an email

Just read issue four. Not sure if Rutskarn amuses or confuses me more.

Also... interview? What what what?

(In other news, sending Chapter II your way soon. Working on padding certain segments out)

3000ish words? Uh oh. I've got a cute little submission that's about a tenth of that. Should I bother?

Felixaar
2010-06-06, 08:45 PM
Thanks, Blayze! If you read issue four you should vote in the comp, though. We're getting very few votes, sigh.

s_a, send it over to me and I'll check it out. It's not the length we normally go for, but it could work.

Hmmm. Well... currently working on something that will not leave the safety of my computer for another couple of months, but then again I do want to diversify a bit and getting a bit of 'net cred won't hurt at all (:smalltongue:).

Perhaps I could get something out of the fact that I've had the words "Gallifrey Burns" stuck in my head for this past week...

Oh, I've written for all of those, but I don't have any stories prepared at the moment. I'll try to write a sci-fi story as soon as I have some free time.

sci-fi is my area of specialization! I got tons of sci-fi story ideas, and I am good at writing! you've got the right guy.
I'm exactly like this, except minus the ideas, take the quality of writing down a couple of pegs, and without sci-fi being an area of specialisation! :smalltongue:

I'd be happy to write a story or two over the holidays. Probably some poetry too, if you need a small piece. I can do silly or serious pieces. Whatever you need/whatever ideas I get.
