as a weretiger would it be possible to take levels in tiger? or can i only take levels in the base classes (fighter, barbarian, cleric, whatever).
this would be to get animal feats such as awesome blow.

thanks for the help ^^

You can pick it anyway if you qualify. Animal hitdie are pretty weak.

[Edit]: Knock-Down (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#knockDown) is better anyway, but you can take levels as a tiger if you're following a Savage Progression (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20031212a). It's pretty underwhelming though.

I suppose if you talked to your DM, possibly when your character was around a source of magical radiation, that you might be able to upgrade the tiger to a dire tiger or somesuch. Raw however, does not support this, and it would have to be homebrewed.

That would not be a smart idea, as it would just get you even more animal HD.

Yeah, just because a feat is printed in the Monster Manual doesn't mean you have to do something extra special to get it. It's just a feat that's more commonly taken by monsters.

Personally, I think Were-tiger is a trap unless you're playing something like a fighter. 6 animal HD +3 LA? *shivers*

Animal levels are (slightly) less of a hinderance to ToB characters (I'm looking at you, Warblade!) than to other melee classes... since you add half your Animal Levels to your ToB level to determine Initiator Level.

That one rule really makes ToB multiclass characters actually worth-while.

You want to look at this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151499), which I've a suspicion may have been started by your DM.
