Can anyone think of a good way for warmage, beguiler, or a dread necro to learn haste?
Extra spell won't work because the DM found the "official ruling" on that that made the feat a waste of paper.

Warmage alternate class feature, eclectic learning (PHBII). Beguilers know Haste by default.

Get a Drake Helm. Adds any 4 spells to your spell list.

Regarding Eclectic Learning, it's a common house rule to let the other classes get it too. Ask your DM; it's not like it's overpowered.

Drakehelm + trapsmith haste = level 1 haste!

Extra spell won't work because the DM found the "official ruling" on that that made the feat a waste of paper.

Both the groups I run with have agreed to ignore that ruling, subject to DM veto. I mean, if the wizard wants to spend a feat on a healing spell, that won't break the game. (especially since the wizard has other things he should be doing in a fight) If the wizard wants Divine Power, sure okay, but you'd be doing just as much or more damage with a 4th or 5th level evocation, and doing it faster. No, the DM veto is saved for spells that totally break a combat.

But the other ways to learn a spell off-list is with the right magic item or to use spell research, both as previously mentioned, and both require DM approval anyway.

So my advice... just ask the DM. If he'd let the rogue buy a wand of haste, he should have no problem letting you spend a Feat on roughly the same thing.

As a side note, for divine casters the best route is Hexer.

Aww, that's one of the few books I don't own.

Edit: the reason I want this is because a gestalt warmage/swiftblade//ghost/random stuff who went around in possessed people would be awesome

Can you do it with a sorcerer instead? That'll get you haste at a lower spell level, and it's better than warmage anyway (if you're worried about fluff, I'd point out that the difference between a warmage and a sorcerer with blasty spells is basically nothing).

I will probably wind up as sorcerer

Sorcerer. Interesting choice. Have you considered taking levels in Swiftblade?

Emphasis mine.

Yeah a drakehelm is nifty all right, but it is throwing a HELL of a lot of money at the problem. A helm with two 3rd level spells in it will run you 36,000 gp. And four spells 3, 3, 4, 5 ... 141,000 gp.:smalleek:

For a swiftblade it needs just a 1st level slot to begin with, for trapsmith haste. And it's pretty much the single best investment a swiftblade can make.
