secrets of the grave shall help with the undead. snoop around for homebrew stuff here and on dndwiki. they have alot of stuff. The rest would be looking up stuff about egypt and egyptian mythology and homebrewing it yourself.

Dunno 'bout 4e, but finding the 3.5 Sandstorm supplement will give you a ton of ideas that you can easily convert.

Also look at Dungeon Delve. Raider's Hideout, Tomb of the Tiefling Empress, and Temple of the Four Winds can easily be re-fluffed and re-populated with Ancient Egyptian-themed baddies.

Whatever you do, just be sure to include plenty of children's card games.

I don't have most of those, I only have a handful of 3.x books. :smallfrown:

How Hollywood Ancient Egypt are you going with this? Since you're invoking the undead, I'm guessing you are thinking walking mummies and such.

Another idea is that Seth, who was not an evil god as much as an antagonistic god, was the god of the desert, wild animals, and foreigners, so maybe use monsters based on crocodiles, hippos, jackals, etc. Or sand, heat, and/or fire elementals?

The Nile was, obviously, also prominent, so you can play with that in your dungeon. You can do something where water runs through the dungeon and the PCs can play with flooding or draining rooms, diverting water, etc. to solve puzzles.

The Ancient Egyptians also believed the west side of the Nile was the realm of death and the east was the realm of birth and life, as Ra rose in the East and died in the West. Tombs and such were built on the western bank while people lived on the eastern. So, I am imagining rooms where on one side, everything works normally, while on the other, the dead have the advantage. Maybe healing does not work on the dead side or it works poorly—I think mummy rot halves your healing. If 4E still did positive/negative energy, I'd say reverse the effects on the living and on the undead.

Hm, the Book of the Dead was a text that was inscribed with spells and hymns for the deceased to know on their journey to the Afterlife, so that they could reach their destination safely. So, maybe something about escorting a dead soul who has lost their Book?

Well lets see, there are the obvious stuff like mummies, sphinxes, jackals, cobras and crocodiles. Naga come to mind as a possible creature, sandstorm has those jackal headed monsters (name eludes me at the moment), and the dnd 3.5 SRD has scorpion folk, and I’m sure it has a few other creatures. Granted most of this is 3rd edition but it shouldn’t be too hard to convert it over to 4E. Pyramids, obelisks and very tall statues of ancient kings ought to a prominent feature of your dungeon, as well as sarcophaguses and burial chambers. Everything should be written in hieroglyphs and need translation, maybe use that as some sort of skill challenge. Also sand should play a prominent role, you know sand based traps and the like.

That’s about all I can come up with, hope that helps.

I got the idea after re-watching some semi-old movies and stumbling across The Mummy (1999).
I wanted to make a Hollywood Egyptian-themed dungeon with mummies, traps, treasure, and stuff like that with maybe some cultists or something trying to open a rift for some demon prince/god.

Sand Trap:As the PCs enter a large chamber, the door behind the closes and one or more trapdoors open in the ceiling. Sand falls from them, covering a 3x3 area. This area is difficult terrain to the PCs.

At the start of every round the sand-covered area grows by one square (4x4 on round 2, 5x5 on round 3 etc) and any creature caught in the area has to save or be covered by the falling sand. Maybe something like 'save or immobilized with ongoing damage 5 (save ends).

The way out of the trap is up to the DM. You can add some enemies (say... scorpions that are immune to the trap's effect) to spice things up. Slow down the rate of expansion to make it it easier.

Balance not guaranteed.

www.thebanmappingproject.com has 3d maps of most of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Enjoy!
