Take expand knowledge to learn powers from another discipline list.
Or play an Eldrute

What idea? You have three words up there, and no suggestions on how to balance it relative to the current suggestion. Would it be gamebreaking? Probably not. However, without any design intent, I don't know if you want a variant that is balanced relative to a single class psion (some kind of weakness in exchange for getting more spells available), or just to upgrade psions, and if so, why.

I took it as more of a question really then an actual idea.

Lose on ML per each additional Discipline.

Balanced? Who knows. Workable? Yes.

A discipline with lots of spells that are less based on ML would make this less painful, but it's workable.

Of course, my idea was the reverse; you lose ML on all spells *not* from your disciplines, though I would only let you pick two or maybe three. If you are an egoist kineticist, all your general spells are down 1 ML, and if you pick three specialties, your ML is down three; if you have three disciplines, you shouldn't *need* other stuff.
