An unliving Red dragon

Unliving Template:
The Unliving template can be add to any living non-undead:
Size and type: Size remain unchanged, type change to Undead with the Unfinished subtype (see spoiler:)
Undeads (Unfinished):
Trait:
- Unlike other Undead an Unfinished has a Constitution score.
- Unlile other undead an Unfinished does not have Darkvision
- Unlike other Undead an Unfinished is not immune to mind-affecting spell and ability
- Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, effects that cause the sickened condition, and energy drain
- An Unfinished doesn’t heal lethal damage naturaly
- Unlike other Undead a Unfinished are subject to critical hit, nonlethal damage, stunning, ability damage, ability drain and death effects or necromancy effects
- An Unfinished can be affected by spells that target living creatures as well as by those that target Undeads.
-Damage dealt to a Unfinished can be healed with positive or negative energy, such as from cure light wound or inflict light wound. However these spell (or any spell-like or supernatural ability that deal with positive or negative energy) provide only half their normal effect.
- An Unfinished responds slightly differently from other Undead creatures when reduced to 0 hit points. A Unfinished with 0 hit points is disabled, just like a living creature. He can only take a single move action or standard action in each round, but strenuous activity does not risk further injury. When his hit points are less than 0 and greater than -10, a Unfinished is inert. He is unconscious and helpless, and he cannot perform any actions. However, an inert Unfinished does not lose additional hit points unless more damage is dealt to him, as with a living creature that is stable.
- An Unfinished can be raised or resurrected.
- An Unfinished does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe, but he can still benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items such as heroes' feast and potions.
- Although Unfinished do not need to sleep, a Unfinished Undeads wizard must rest for 8 hours before preparing spells.

The Template Project (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8492255#post8492255)

Designer note:

For Undead I've create the Unfinished subtype, it's very close to living construct.
The thing I'm the less sure about is their relation to positive and negative energy.

Here's the feat I create for it:

Charming voice [Template]
Your natural charm allow you to overcome your undead look
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Diplomacy 4 rank, Cha 13
Benefit
You do not take a penality to Charisma base skill check and ability check.
In addition when using aid another on a Charisma based skill check or ability check the bonus is +4 instead of +2

Positive connection [Template]
You have a natural connection to the positive energy plane
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Knowledge (The plane) 6 rank, Con 15
Benefit
You gain full effect from spell dealing with positive energy such as cure light wound instead of half.

Negative connection
You have a natural connection to the negative energy plane
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Knowledge (The plane) 6 rank, Cha 15
Benefit
You gain full effect from spell dealing with negative energy such as inflict light wound instead of half.

Double connection [Template]
Your connection to the positive and negative energy plane allow you to combine them.
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Knowledge (The plane) 9 rank, Con 15, Positive connection, Negative connection, Ability to cast cure light wound or inflict light wound
Benefit
When using a spell dealing with positive or negative energy you can choose as a free action to use the other type of energy instead. For example if you cast cure light wound you could choose to channel negative ernegy instead of positive energy dealing damage to living creature and healing undead.
In addition you are immune to the effect of Positive and Negative dominant trait in any any plane that posses them. You can still chose to be affect by them if you want.

Paralysis Channeling [Template]
You can paralyse a creature while using another techinique.
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Concentration 4 rank
Benefit
As a swift action before using an ability or special action (touch range spell or power, trip attemp, etc...) that require a touch attack with your bare hand/limb, you can chose to deliver your Paralysis touch ability at the same time.
Special
A fighter may select this feat as one of his fighter bonus feats.

Draining Touch [Template]
You can drain the life of other creature with a touch
Prerequisite
Unliving template
Benefit
As a standard action you can spend a use of your Paralysis touch ability to instead use Vampiric touch as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to your hit-dice

Unliving School [Template] [Tactical]
You’ve learn way to combine your martial prowess with your Paralysis touch
Prerequisite
Unliving template, Power attack, Str 15, Base attack bonus +9
Benefit
The Unliving School feat enables the use of three tactical maneuvers.
Weakening attack: To use this maneuver you must make an attack using your power attack feat in the first round and use your Paralysis touch ability on the second round. The penality on your attack roll must be -3 or worse. If the first attack hit you gain a bonus equal to the penality taken to the save DC of you Paralysis touch against the same creature in the next round.
Paralysis channeling: To use this maneuver you must make an attack using your power attack feat in the first round and use it again on the second round. The penality on your attack roll must be -5 or worse in both case. If the first attack hit you can forgo the damage bonus from power attack for the second attack and instead expend a use of your Paralysis touch ability and channel it through your weapon, the target is affected as if you use it normally.

The penality on your attack roll must be -5 or worse. I've always been fascinated by the idea of a partially undead creature. I'm a rookie when it comes to homebrew, but this seems like a good mix of living and undead traits

The description for the type change mentions an "Unfinished" subtype. Was that on purpose? Or just an old name that you had that you forgot to change?

It's the name of the subtype I chosed, it represent and Undead that's not finnished so it's still partially living. I wasn't really inspired when chosing the name but it doesn't matter much.

In Eberron, there is a creature that has the "Half-Dead" special quality. Basically, it is half-living, half-dead (quite literally in its own specific case) and can be healed by both positive and negative energy, but it must make a Fort save first or otherwise it is dealt the damage instead. It's type is Aberration and thus still has a Constitution score and several other features this template has. It might be worth looking into. I think it was in Magic of Eberron, and otherwise the Eberron Campaign Setting book.

Very nice, I'll add this one.
