View Full Version : Further proof of the deadliness of Australia

All right, we all knew that Australia is home to 99% of the world's most dangerous things. Crocodiles, Drop Bears, Dame Edna. But until today it had escaped my attention that Australia is also home to a colony of crime-fighting ninjas (http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/05/20/would-be-muggers-in-australia-thwarted-by-ninjas/?hpt=Sbin).

This group is apparently so powerful that five of them were able to thwart a robbery. By the inverse ninja law, that means a single one of them would be among the deadliest threats you would ever face.

But this is *good* deadly, not *bad* deadly! I'm personally advocating the complete abolishment of our Police Force and replacing them with a Ninja Corps.

(Also, a little shoutout to all my fellow Aussies who will inevitably be drawn to this thread like moths to a flame.)

Yo. edit: Sorry, g'day.

Everyone knows Australia has the ninjaest ninjas. You know that guy they had on Mythbusters who catches arrows? He lives in my town. He gets a hamburger with cheese, meat, sauce, no salad and sometimes bacon from my Boy.

Was that the guy who held the record for largest number of martial arts punches in a minute a while ago, before it was soundly beaten twice by the same guy? Cause I think I recall seeing that episode, but I can't remember if it's the same guy. He showed up on Lawrence Leung's Choose Your Own Adventure once if it was the same guy.

We all knew it; I'm the only one with guts to say it:

Chuck Norris is Australian

Yep, that's the guy (http://www.anthonykelly.com.au/about).

Pfft. Who needs Chuck Norris when you can have Paul Bloody Hogan?

Thread so bright....must...post :smalltongue:

I think the fact that proves the ninjas in Australia are the best is the fact that Australia is not known for ninjas. They are just that good at their art :smallwink:

Yeah... I'd think you might want to skip on the Paul Hogan claims. Have you seen the rest of his films!? Not to mention Yahoo Serious.

On the other hand, everything else about Aussie-land is Aussie-ome! Steve Erwin will be missed and unparralleled.

Bushwhackers from New Zealand then
They were not deadly but they were frightening. Especially in a dress...

A team of modern Ninja? Sounds like SWAT.

Ninjutsu is antiquated, they teach horseback combat.

:smallconfused:

In what school do they teach that?

'Cause he appears to be from Bujinkan, and I haven't heard of any horseback combat training in any school from Bujinkan.

I believe he meant actual historical ninjutsu. It was part of the 18 skills, or Juhachi-kei. It included horseback riding.

EDIT: Well, Australia had Steve Irwin.

So are those ninja's poisonous? Are Australian people poisonous too or just every thing else?

Either way HELL YEAH!! for IRL ninjas fighting crime.

Probably because Bujinkan is only para-ninjutsu, and it's not actually the same thing.

He was also trained in the Drop Bear style. What it lacks in style it makes up for in gravity.

I have to say, Australia did give us the man without whom biology would be ruined, and to whom all biologists owe a great, great debt. Steve Irwin, RIP. You have done more for the scientific community than we could ever hope to thank you for.

Associated with, not actually true root.

Ninjutsu: -Purportedly practiced by the shinobi (aka, no proof that modern martial arts have the same training or useful application of the actual ninja)-

1. Seishinteki kyōyō (spiritual refinement)
2. Taijutsu (unarmed combat)
3. Kenjutsu (sword techniques)
4. Bōjutsu (stick and staff techniques)
5. Sōjutsu (spear techniques)
6. Naginatajutsu (naginata techniques)
7. Kusarigamajutsu (kusarigama techniques)
8. Shurikenjutsu (throwing weapons techniques)
9. Kayakujutsu (pyrotechnics and explosives)
10. Hensōjutsu (disguise and impersonation)
11. Shinobi-iri (stealth and entering methods)
12. Bajutsu (horsemanship)
13. Sui-ren (water training)
14. Bōryaku (tactics)
15. Chōhō (espionage)
16. Intonjutsu (escaping and concealment)
17. Tenmon (meteorology)
18. Chi-mon (geography)

Where as Bujinkan is formed out of 9 subschools:
Togakure Ryū Ninpō Taijutsu
Gyokko Ryū Kosshijutsu
Kuki Shinden Ryū Happō Bikenjutsu / Happō Bikenjutsu
Koto Ryū Koppōjutsu
Shinden Fudo Ryū Taijutsu
Takagi Yoshin Ryū Jūtaijutsu
Gikan Ryū Koppōjutsu
Gyokushin Ryū Ninpō
Kumogakure Ryū Ninpō

As you can see by the list, only 2 of these schools are strict ninjutsu liniage, neither of which followed through with horseback training of their students as their weapons styles were ground based.
