The air surrounding you fairly hums with the residue of magic, an aftereffect of the spell that brought you to this place. A quick glance reveals that you are in a small room, devoid of any life save for yourself. The sound of dripping water can be heard faintly, and the stone walls are slick with moisture. In complete defiance of logic, a torch is already lit, resting in a sconce near the room's single door.

There is a door at C-4, south side.

I'll check the door over for traps - from 10 feet away, making use of the 10' pole I packed.

Thelas

Can I get a search check, then?

Derjuin

Woops, sorry.

[roll0] Search check

Thelas

Nothing found.
What next?

Derjuin
2010-05-22, 05:46 PM
I'll go open the door, after having found nothing on it, and then check out what awaits me beyond it.

A hallway extends 35 ft south, with branches to the east 5 ft and 25 ft down and to both the east and west at the end.

Why don't you describe your Standard Operating Procedure? It'll save a lot of time.
For example:

I always walk to the nearest square I haven't yet covered, searching each square at take 10 (for a total of ##) before touching it.
When I see a door, stop and tell me.

Derjuin

SOP: I'll always do a Move Silently take 10 (for a total of 18), and search each square at take 10 (for a total of 14). At a door, I'd do a take 10 search with the 10 foot pole (if it's possible); at corners and bends, I peek my head around the corner and try to view what's beyond using Darkvision.

I'll head down the hallway, carefully peeking around each corner. If any of the corners show me creatures beyond them, I'll stop at that corner.

You step 5 ft south, search, step 20 ft south, search, tep 10 ft south, and you have to give me east or west now.

Derjuin
2010-05-24, 11:35 AM
I'll check East first, then West; if both are empty, I'll go down the Western hall.

Thelas

You look east and see... a door, a whole 35 feet east.
Unfortunately, there is a slight problem.
There's a red-and-white-bullseye painted on the tile in front of the door.
What will you do?

Derjuin

I'll slowly move down the hall, about ten feet away from the bullseye, then take out my grappling hook, attempt to attach rope to it, and if I'm successful, toss the hook at the bullseye.

If it requires a Use Rope check to do so,
[roll0]
And if it requires an attack roll to hit the square,
[roll1]

No visible effect.

Just inducing paranoia.

I'll retract the grappling hook, untie the rope and put both back in the sack. Then I'll pull out the ten-foot pole, and push on the bullseye, and the ceiling above it if I can reach that (standing up to 5 feet away from the bullseye).

It explodes. [roll0].

Nah, nothing happens.

Derjuin

I'll check the walls and, if I don't find any traps on them, I'll check the door as well, all with the 10-ft pole.

[roll0] Wall 1
[roll1] Wall 2
[roll2] Door

The walls come alive and eat you. Have a nice death.

Nah, nothing happens.

TS

Mainly so I can eventually say

You read the note card. It says "You've been poisoned. Have fun."

Roll a fort save.

What, did you expect me to say "Nah, nothing happened?" Well, I'm not this time. give me a save.

In a hilarious twist, something VERY similar to that actually happens in later floors.

Is this true or paranoia-inducement? [Or both]?
I would kind of expect that from you, but I would also expect paranoia from you.

I'll turn around and scout down the hallway behind me, the other branch that I hadn't explored yet.

(apologies for lateness here)
40 ft west, 10 ft south, as you poke 10 ft to your east, an acid trap triggers.

RTA: [roll0]
Dmg: [roll1] acid.

Any change?

Derjuin

Ouch, down to 9 hp.

Ok, I'll turn around and head back to the door down the west end (the one with the bullseye) and check the door for something like a keyhole to peek through.

Thelas
2010-06-03, 05:25 PM
Standing on the bullseye?

Derjuin
2010-06-04, 10:53 AM
As close to one of the walls as possible; if it has one, I'll attempt to look though it.

It's a 500 lb lead sheet (I think) that slides to the side.
Sorry, try again next time.
