Is there anything like the ranseur that is not a reach weapon? Or should I just go for a halberd?

Depends on what you mean by "like".

The Halberd is a polearm without reach, but it trips instead of disarming.

The Heavy Flail is a two-handed martial weapon with a disarming bonus, as well as tripping, but cannot be set against a charge.

I want a one-handed 1d8 or 2d4 polearm with a bonus on disarm. But since the halberd deals more damage, i will probably use that.

One-handed polearm?

What about one handed reach weapons that can be used at short range as well, and grant a bonus to disarm and trip, but aren't polearms?

Like the kusuri-gama, in DMG?

Or does it have to be a polearm in shape?

If so, I'm not sure if there are many one-handed polearms.

Sorry, meant two handed. I can't find the kusari-gama in my DMG. What is its crit multiplier, damage, and damage type?

Page 145 (Oriental and Renaissance weapons)

x2, 1d6, slashing, 10 gp, 3 lb

Strictly, it's a light weapon, not one-handed- so no penalties on dual-wielding. But can't benefit from two-handed use.

I just think that I'll use the halberd and use Monkey Grip so i can have a shield.

-XavezIf animated shields are beyond your wealth and you still want one, take a look at Improved Buckler Defense from Comp. Warrior.

I suggest the following, of you want to be a "Lancer"

Race: Raptoran (Flight is AWESOME)
Class: Something with a Full BAB (Psi Warrior or Fighter is optimal)/Aireal Avenger (?) [DMC]

Focus your feats on improving your spear/lance/whatever piercing weapon damage, divebomb, and skewer 4 unlucky jerks

I was actually going to play a spellsword, I love polearms, and I want a good AC.

Refluffed flail. 1d10 is slightly more than 2d4, btw. Call it a short ranseur and change the damage type to piercing. I doubt your DM will mind.

Decided on a halberd.
