I am starting to get bad apophenia regarding my sister and brother-in-law stationed in Afghanistan. And me regarding my health.

-rolls in a little ball-

(To say nothing of the fact that I was close to half of them.)

Owch. I have had large chunks of my family die. Mind you, it was a while back. Like 2002, so i'm adjusted. When my grandfather died so did my grandmother, and my greats within two weeks of them both passed on. They were sick already, so it was not unexpected. But, that was a lot of funerals during Christmas time that year.

You have my sympathy, and a bit of my empathy too.

I have a friend who got breast cancer at age like 13 and then one winter's night her parents were coming to visit her in the hospital, got in a car crash, and died. She got breast cancer then lost her mom, dad, and little brother.

This world has the tendency to be a ****ty place, but I promise it'll get better. *Offers a hug to astralfire*

I lost a close friend recently as well. Death is never easy, but... *hug* Time heals one's wounds better than one would expect.

I can only express my deep sympathies. While I know what it is like to have a family member die, I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose so many in such a short time. I also hope that this is the end of it.

I know that apologies and sympathies can't help, but for what it's worth, I know what you're going through: When I was 12 my mum died, and within a short space of time my grandfather died too, and they were my two closest family members. You have my empathy.

When I was about 8, my grandfather died of cancer. What makes me the most sad about it is that I, due to living on the other side of the US, never got to know him very well. On the other hand, I know my granny is going to die soon. She has lots of health problems and is slowly getting worse. When she dies, I don't know what I'll do.

Your brother-in-law and sister will be in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family--we just recently lost my grandmother so I can, in some small way, relate. Shoot me a PM if it helps you mourn/grieve/cope/vent/etc.
