So I'm in a crunch. I'm DMing a game tonight and I don't really have enough time to build my spellcasters for the upcoming final battle.

I'm in need of a Level 9 Wizard, preferable with some sort of iron/rust theme to her spells. I also need a Level 9 Cleric of Nerull with the Obesity feat from BoVD. Both characters for 3.5

Any Wizards official Sourcebook is applicable, including feats/spells from alternate campaign settings. I would be most appreciative to anyone who builds these for me by tonight.

If it helps, the party is around level 7, and consists of a Druid, a Rogue/Wizard/Master of Masks, a Spellthief, a Barbarian, and a Hexblade.

I am away from books right now, or I'd be more helpful.

The key to a spellcaster is spell selection and planning. Where is your party encountering these spellcasters? Do you already have the rest of the encounter built?

Summoning is always a good choice. You could have your wizard pre-summon some rust monsters or something. Picking out iron/rust themed spells and then using feats like arcane thesis and signature spell might be helpful. You can metamagic up lower level spells, which would speed up the selection process. If your party wears metal armor a chained heat metal might be an interesting, iron-themed move.

Human Cleric of Nerull 9, replace Diplomacy with Intimidate as a class skill.
Trickery and Evil, with the spontaneous domain casting ACF (PH2) for Trickery.
32 point buy: Str 14, Dex 8, Con 16, Int 10, Wis 18, Cha 14
Skill ranks/tricks: Intimidate 12, Never Outnumbered; Concentration 12; Bluff 5; Hide 5.
Feats: Willing Deformity (+3 Intimidate as per Heroes of Horror), Deformity: Obese, Mother Cyst, Imperious Command, Fell Frighten.
Items: masterwork fat guy sized full plate, masterwork extra wide heavy steel shield, masterwork morningstar with pudgy fingers grip, circlet of rapid casting, lesser rod of extend spell, Devastation of Nerull unholy symbol from Complete Champion, mundane unholy symbols of Nerull, costly spell components/foci as necessary.
Spells Prepared (6/6/6/5/4/2), DC 14 + spell level, caster level +1 for Necromancy:
0- Detect Magic, Read Magic, Mending, Light, Create Water, Detect Poison
1st- Protection from Good, Sign, Necrotic Awareness, Shield of Faith x2, Divine Favor
2nd- Desecrate, Necrotic Cyst x2, Hold Person, Cure Moderate Wounds x2
3rd- Inflict Serious Wounds, Magic Vestment x2, Dispel Magic, Blindness/Deafness, Knight's Move
4th- Unholy Blight, Divine Power, Fell Frighten Sound Burst x2
5th- Mass Inflict Light Wounds, Summon Undead V
Buffs: Magic Vestment should already be cast on his armor and shield, and he should have Sign cast ahead of time. If he has any prior warning of the impending attack, he'll have cast Shield of Faith on himself and the Wizard.
Surprise Round: Begin casting Summon Undead V for troll skeletons.
1st round: Cast Unholy Blight on as many opponents as possible, cast (swift via the circlet) Blindness on anyone with a visible spellbook and/or spell component pouch and/or in light or no armor or Hold Person on a heavily armored opponent.
2nd+ round: Fell Frighten Sound Burst on as many opponents as possible, or Hold Person on a heavily armored opponent, or Confusion on multiple opponents.
If opponents close with him and the wizard despite his skeletons, he'll cast Divine Favor (quickened via the circlet) and Divine Power and move into melee. He may make an Intimidate check using Never Outnumbered if he can affect multiple foes, especially if they're already shaken. If outnumbered he'll probably continue using Intimidate checks to demoralize opponents while trying to keep his bulk between them and the wizard. If he thinks he's going to lose the battle, he can cast Invisibility and sneak away.

I honestly have no idea what to do for a rust-themed wizard, but I'd probably make her a Necromancer 9 with the Skeletal Minion ACF (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=8573636) from UA. Give it some rusty metal armor and a tower shield and have it focus on blocking opponents from reaching her. Use spells like Wall of Iron and Bands of Steel to control the battlefield, and have Lesser Ironguard cast ahead of time. Maybe include a metal floor/catwalk that she can destroy with a Ray of Rust, or even put a heavy object overhead hanging from a chain so she can cast that to drop it on them and deal damage. Be sure to take Spell Thematics (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Spell_Thematics) to give all of her spells a rusted metal theme. It looks like most of the rust effects are Transmutations, and most of the metal themed spells are Conjurations, so you may want to have her specialized in one of those instead. If you make her a Conjurer, definitely consider either the Abrupt Jaunt ACF in PH2 for better survivability, or the Rapid Summoning and Enhanced Summoning ACFs (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/specialistWizardVariants.htm#conjurerVariants) from UA.

Obese, to be more precise. You gain a con bonus but a dex penalty.

Just realized that the chained heat metal will probably work even if most of the party isn't wearing metal armor, because it can arc to weapons, the buckles on belts or boots, metal spell foci, holy symbols etc. Should be a fun maneuver.

Think Baron Harkonnen or Jabba the Hutt.

Think Baron Harkonnen or Jabba the Hutt.

That exactly was my thought when opening the thread.
I hope the obese cleric guy is also a cannibal. Being obese alone isn't evil enough.

Hi Joe,

Although I realize you already got your NPC for last night's game, for future crunch times you might consider:

http://d20npcs.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

for all your d20 NPC needs! Quality can vary but you can sort by level, class, race, etc. It's quite handy!

:)
