Here's my idea:

Name: Ranged Combat Reflexes
Prerequisites: Combat Reflexes, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Improved Rapid Shot (Complete Warrior), Precise Shot, Improved Precise Shot
Benefit: You may make attacks of opportunity with a ranged weapon, provided that the target is within 30 feet of you. However, you may only make attacks of opportunity that round a number of times equal to one half of your dexterity modifier, with a maximum of three and a -4 penalty on each attack roll.
Normal: You may only make attacks of opportunity with melee weapons.

Any suggestions/additions/errata?

Just one. How are you getting AoO outside of flat-out melee range?

If we're assuming it's ANY time someone moves in 30 feet of the archer, it's broken. The archer is effectively getting their dex mod extra attacks a round at full to hit.

If we're saying that it's when normal attacks of opportunity trigger (ie. move through adjacent threatened squares, getting up next to opponent, etc.), then it's not that great and hardly worth the feat progression.

Hmmm... you have a point there. Maybe a penalty to the attack roll for the attack of opportunity? Or should we change it to a shorter range? Or should we just make it an epic feat?

I think making it so that it consumes all your aoos for the round, regardless of your feats or Dex, would balance that issue.

Maybe half of Dex mod, maximum 3, with a -4 penalty on all three because you have to fire so quickly?

Don't apply the AoO rule for movement - make it only trigger when someone casts a spell non-defensively, or retrieves an item, or any of those other AoO triggering conditions.
