This might be a silly question, but I have been unable to find confirmation in print. I am looking to play a Wizard/Sorcerer/Master Specialist/Ultimate Magus, with a focus on the wizard (conjurer). But in general, when playing something like a Wizard/Sorcerer, do the two class levels stack when casting spells? I had assumed the caster level was at base equal to only a single class, but now there is some doubt in my mind, for some reason.

Thanks,

Todd

No, they do not. Wizard levels only apply to wizard levels, and Sorcerer levels apply only to sorcerer levels. For Example, a Wizard 10/Sorcerer 10 can only cast 5th level spells from each side, at caster level 10 for each.

You can only advance one of these classes at a time, unless you're using a special dual-progression class like Ultimate Magus.

In general (not that I can think of any exceptions) Base classes with spellcasting do not stack.
PrCs vary, but many do stack.
