It is a new time, a time of civilization, much of the world is now civilized, with empires spanning quite a distance, but civilization must expand, and in the process, civilization tends to consume itself, it is a time of civilization, an age that precludes another age, the age of war, and that age leads up to the ultimate age....of the Ultimate Empire.

King Orthas thinks and says to one of his servants Hmmmm...I would like to schedule a meeting with those...er...what are their names? Well you know, the ogre kingdom's leader. And I would like to issue a new village let's say... at the top of Cliffpeak. Make it a fishing village too. King Orthas then thinks for a while and then signals his servant to prepare what he asked for.

Ogre leader:Kargel Zu'Geb Zanzar
I would like to schedule a meeting with king Orthas and Kargel Zu'Geb Zanzar.

Terrmen! Remember the Dark Lords! Remember the pain they brought upon our fathers! Never forget the chaos in which they left us!
Never forgive the long dead! Never forgive tyrants! No Mercy for the wizards! No mercy for the clergy! No mercy
For The Enemies of Free Terrmettia!

-Emperor Hett the Second, in a speech to his troops the morning of the beggining of the Blackfoot Campaign

In other words, the great Terrmettian army has invaded Blackfoot's domain. The Emperor expects the whole region to be under his control in less than a year, and has already started sending embassadors to that nice kingdom on the south.
He doesn't like what he's heard about wizards to the West, and, as usual, he plans to exterminate all of the magical population he encounters as he conquers.

Without much difficulty, the majority of his domain is made yours, however, you might want to know that blackfoot is a DRAGON, and has managed to still hole up in a tiny stretch of land at the left coast.

This beast's skull shall be the crowning jewel of Terrmettia! Ready the armies and surround the monster's domains. Send scouts and assassins to spy on him, and ready the giant-slaves! In this battle they shall prove their worth!

The Terrmettian army surrounds and readies for the attack. All's well in the mainland as the end of the turn approaches. Also, the embassadors to Hammerlord should be arriving around these days.

The scouts report that they can hear him from deep within his caves, and it appears a few dozen lightly armored orcs are guarding his cavern,

Also to the ogre leader:
King Orthas gives this speech during the meeting
I, King Orthas, expect you to leave our lands in peace from your race. We want no trouble, but if that is what you have come for, then you are a pitiful race, for we shall easily destroy you. You have had your warning orge, now allow us both to go in peace. Prosper in your land and rejoice for we could have taken your land, but we shall allow you to keep it fellow ogre. Think this not of a threat, but a warning from a friend.

King Orthas after the meeting asks if the village has been completed. If it has he would like to try to claim Toes of the Trog kings.

Kargel sits quietly in his Ogre village, which lies on the tip of the Boot of the Hammerlord, as to allow easy access to the icy giant counterparts. As he sits, he thinks to himself, "Hmmm, I haven't contacted Gu'Greb lately, I wonder how the Iceboot and the Iceleg fare." On this note, he calls in one of his many Ogre scouts and orders him to sail to the icy lands of the Ogres and to report on their status. Kargel wants to ensure there have been no advances by other empires and that resources are sufficient i.e. food, minerals, housing, etc.

This is just a note, not a secret:
Gu'Greb is his second-in-command who watches over Iceboot and Iceleg and he lives in Iceboot.

--------------------------------------------------------
As Kargel sends off this scout ship, which in total has about 4 Ogre scouts from his village, as you never send them alone, he receives a scout from the neighboring empires to address King Orthas. As he expects no harm to come of this, he obliges as a good neighbor should, although curious what Orthas would want with him, as Kargel has seemingly done nothing to disturb his lands. In this, Kargel travels through the Boot of the Hammerlord, and gradually establishes a full escort to follow him (Gamerkid, you decide what would be appropriate). But! He will only accept the meeting if it is in the Southernmost country of Orthas' empire.

And if this meeting does occur:
Orthas
After Orthas gives his speech, a seemingly confused look crosses Kargel's face as he responds, "But have we not done anything? There has been no trouble made. The ogres have inhabited these lands for far much longer than any human race has. We have not attacked you, nor have shown any desire. I have gathered the ogres together simply as a unification for the ogre race and as a protective measure. I do not take this as a threat, but as an insult, dear King Orthas. You say you expect me to leave, but yet you will let me stay? I am leaving back to the safety of my Boot, and I want you to think of what you really want, King Orthas, and we will meet again. Until then, farewell." And as this adjourns his journey starts off immediately.

The Capital of the Archonate

The Archonate's Sacred Council had been called to order. The leaders of the empire sat around a table, quietly discussing the myriad politics of the day. They were many different species: humans, orcs, gnolls, and all manner of creature. But they all had one thing in common--each was warped by magic to better suit the image of their gods. They had horns, and draconic wings sprouted from their backs. That was how you could tell an Archon from a commoner--the rulers of the Archonate were always dragon-touched.

Elements of the Archonate's army push eastward into the Icehead region. The army's method is such:

Coming upon a tribe, township, or city, the army approaches peacefully. They tell the inhabitants, frankly, to either surrender to the Archonate's authority, or all of them will die.

If they surrender themselves, the army occupies the area, and various materials are shipped in: food, medicinces, wealth, and especially holy texts and items, and they begin converting the populace to Archonate religion and language.

If the people refuse, the army leaves peacefully, only to return at night and start setting things on fire, and selling the survivors into slavery.

Keep in mind that this is always the Archonate's method when dealing with such territories, and they're famous for it, historically. The people they encounter would genuinely know the consequences of not surrendering.

Eldwin Empire:
The empire begins to order it's trained veterans to toughen up the soldiers and begin harder training regimens. In addition, mages are ordered to begin a collective study on combat spells. Crop rotation, is being introduced by reforms from the Eldwin council. The borders are being patrolled by the nation's elite forces while the capital is being ordered to be fortified.

Order the troops to collect firewood, then have them start a fire at the cave's entrance. This will cause a great smokecloud that will drive them out. Yes, this is necessary, for it would be madness to charge at such a defendable position. They could funnel our troops down a narrow hallway and that would be the end of us. No, do as I say and flush them out, then shoot arrows at them from the cliffs above the entrance until they run, then our cavary will finish them off.
As for the dragon, have the giants prepare catapults, ballistas, and other sorts of throw-machines. Then give them halberds, and order them to charge. I do not care if we lose them all; they're not human, after all.

The Emperor's Orders are followed.

A nice, round escort of 10 skilled ogres is rounded up. All is well in the icy domains of the kingdom. There are reports though of a northern kingdom expanding.

Most of the Tribes surrender, they had already wished to join your nation, the few that cause trouble are quickly quelled.

The empire's forces begin their training, and is well.

Time has passed, and a few have arisen:
*In Hammerlord, a strange priest begins preaching for a god name Xi-Klax, little is known about it because he has just begun preaching, he is having little effect on the masses.
*A search in the ice realms discovers they are rich in minerals.
*In blackfoot's domain, the dragon has surrendered.

A dragon? Surrendered? Well, this is most fortunate, we could really use a friend such an it. Especially considering the abundance of dragon-worshippers...yes, most fortunate indeed.
For now, prepare the armies and send envoys. We are deaclaring war on the masters of Shadowstep! Their people shall be our slaves, and this age of conquest shall have a glorious, immortal ending!

In layman's terms, a major nave is being constructed, if only to make it across the gulf. The dragon is somewhat welcome and his troops, of course, readied to be sent with the giants as arrow-fodder.
The entire empire rejoices as the conquest of the continent becomes complete, and no one stops to think about what they are to do once Shadowstep falls; The Emperor has pushes an enormous tide, mad enough to master, but too strong to stop outright...

The main contingent of the Archonate's army proceeds to Iceear, using the same methods as described above.

Simultaneously, the Archonate hires a small army of adventurers and conquistadors to travel to Shadowstep, and begin exploring and conquering things. Given that this is a smaller force, the army there focuses less on integration than on subjugation--that is, they conquer first, ask questions later.

That's when hilarity ensues things like negotiations and such start going. The Archonate doesn't want a full-on war with a civilized power...yet. But technically speaking, the Emperor hasn't laid claim to all of Shadowstep, has he now? So he may just have to share.:smallamused:

To Ogre Leader:
Yes you may land there.

Orthas thinks for a second longer then says "I want 7 forts built across our 4 regions. I want all ports secure and all cargo checked upon arrival. There are rumors of a priest starting to preach about a new god. We must be on our guard and make sure that he or his cult are brought to me if found on our territory. No infiltrators or trespassers will be tolerated. He nods then continues to think about what he should do, and sends the servant off.

Half the region is conquered but then the soldiers see a most troubling sight across the distance: Experienced conquistadors and adventurers, altogether a small army, bearing the flags of the Archonate. They claim to be willing to negotiate.
