1. Are focuses expended when used for a spell such as contingency? So, for example, I'd have to buy a new ivory statue of myself every time I wanted to cast Contingency?
2. What's the rule on the cost of ink for spellbooks? Do you have to pay the cost for every spell you put in your book or just ones you learn from outside sources?

2. If by 'outside sources' you mean 'any source that isn't your two free spells per level,' then you only have to pay ink costs for spells you learn from outside sources.

EDIT: Note there are several ways to obviate ink costs (for instance Geometer, Blessed Book) or add extra 'free' spells known (for instance Collegiate Wizard, Master Specialist 2/5/8).

Yeah, the second is what I meant. Thanks for clearing both up.

True and true.

The beauty of a focus is that it is not used up, the downside is that they are usually more expensive than a material component.

The two spells per level just show up without cost, the ones you add other than that cost 100gp per page and 1 page per spell level.

Geometer needs more love. Just think how many Explosive Runes THEY could stuff a spellbook with.

How does their Pass Sigil ability work? It says they have to see the glyph to pass it safely, but won't that trigger it?
