I'm looking for a way to help round out a new game I'm about to start.

It's level 1, 32 pt-buy, DMG/PHB only. The SRD may be allowed, but I'm not sure yet.

We've got a Monk dedicated to tripping/grappling, an archery-focused ranger, a rogue (presumably a skill-focused one), a cleric, a fighter, and a sorcerer.

I will be joining this campaign soon and would like to help round out the party without being either under- or overpowered. I was thinking something like Saph's Horizon Tripper build (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80415), or a bard/rogue specializing in unusual skills (kind of a kitchen sink type character). I really wish I could run a Haberdash (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5266526)-type character, but Factotum and MoM are no-goes.

Any advice?

7 characters? How about a bard?

druid. you buff, you fight, you cast, you flank, you do everything and you can do it well. prepare a few buffs and some healing, but then also summon a few natures allys when you need to.

you dont step on peoples toes if you just adapt to what each situation needs

or be a big bad barbarian who is kept in chains and held back by the cleric, whos job in life is to keep you from destroying everything, but is also on a divine mission, hence his reason to go adventuring. then take the EWP to use the chains that hold you back as weapons.

actually, that sounds awesome, im gonna do that in a game that allows more books. you be the druid. if i run a game online i will let you be the badass barb
