The entire room is surrounded by heavy black curtains.

There is a table to your west. There are seven sheets of parchment on the table, six with writing of some sort on them, while the seventh is blank. There is also a red lacquered inkpen resting near the blank sheet, with a note attached to it.

The pages are covered with dark brown ink, heavily blotched with larger dark brown areas.

Sheet 1: The curtains... they*blotch* so still. They seem so ordinary*blotch* and then it's too late. Be careful.

Sheet 2: Clank... clank... clank... I will hear that awful noise for all eternity.*blotch* and*blotch*

Sheet 3: It hardly seems likely that*blotch* could have the*blotch* And yet it is so. A truly terrible foe.

Sheet 4: She's looks a princess, but she strikes as though she has trained her entire life. What's more, I have seen*blotch* and*blotch* What is this place, to attract such a mystery as herself?

Sheet 5: Horrible. Just horrible. How can it be alive after so much torture?*blotch* and that*blotch*

A Decipher Script check for each blotch may be able to determine more.

Alright...

Cast Unseens Servant CL 3, so 3 hours.

Cast Tenesar's Floating Disk, 3 hours there as well.

Cast Mage Armor, 3 hours there.

Load up my wands on the Disk for easy access...

Grip a Wand of Shield in one hand, and a Wand of Acid Splash in the Other.

Have the US open the curtains to the north and peer out.

O is a floating glass sphere that occasionally crackles with electricity.
S's are a long shelf with twelve glass vials on it, each a different color.
M is a statue of a robed scholarly looking fellow, standing with one arm extended palm out toward his partner, the F, which is a female version of the same statue. A light blue shard of crystal floats back and forth between the pair's outstretched hands, never quite touching either.
The walls here are the same as in the starting room, dark curtains.

Inside is a creature with arcane symbols engraved into its heavily muscled flesh. Its blocky head sits atop a thickly corded neck, a snarl twisting its mouth. Upon seeing you, it thumps its large wooden club against the open palm of its other hand, and the runes on its flesh briefly flash a brilliant purple.

Ah, missed that.

You can't ready actions outside combat, but if you get a surprise round, you can use those to use a wand before combat begins.

Yeah, you can leave that much space between you and the monster.

The Rage Mage flies into a rage and charges you!

head west.

Cast Mage Armor.

Have a Wand of Shield and a Wand of Acid Splash in hand.

Cast shield from the wand then have the US open the curtain on the east side. :smallsmile:

It opens into a sort of corridor. There are more curtains 10 feet to the south. To the west is wall, and to the east the area opens out into a larger area with more curtained-off patches in the middle.

The Gs are a mass of constantly shifting metal plates with the look of a misshapen suit of armor. Crackles of energy spark between the plates, drawing them together or pushing them apart seemingly at random. In its gauntlets it holds a large, two-handed sword.

Okay, look, your character would have figured it out by now: it's got the Immunity to Magic (Ex) ability, just like regular golems. SR: Yes spells aren't going to work.

I need to rethink my wand selection and prepared spells...Mage Armor / US / Floating Disk seem like a waste of a spell slot, when I can get them at an hour a pop off of a wand...

(I realized in that fight that offensive spells would be more beneficial to me in those slots...and that having a wand of one of the lesser orbs might not be a bad idea...let me juggle a few things and I should be good to go again...if that's okay.)

As you're probably figured out by now, this thing is a D&D version of a Borg. The description calls it Tanaric's "Lesser" Golem, which is a bit of a joke. :smallamused:

Yeah, though it appears to only be able to keep one specific immunity at a time (I hit it with electric, then was able to hit it with acid.) My problem is that I only have Acid Splash w/o SR...stupid Iron Golem junk!

Basically I switched a spell or 2, and manipulated the number of charges on my wands to be able to fit in another wand, and up my shield wand to 20 charges...:smallsmile:

Alright...that room I was just in shows promise.

I'll Cast US and Mage Armor from wands.

I'll give the US the bags of marbles...

Then head to the south curtain, on the west side (going back to the golem).

I cast Alter self on myself from a wand before putting it away. (Troglodyte)

Then have the US pull the curtain open and stroll through.

(In hand are a wand of Acid Splash and a Wand of Shield)

(edit)Forgot that I casted Magical Tattoo, giving my Will save a +2 bonus.. (like last time)

You open the next set of curtains to see a horribly twisted Medium-sized creature that appears to have been flayed alive and had its eyes gouged out. It's moving, though, and its empty sockets turn to look at you.

Seems the dice officially hate you.
