The air surrounding you fairly hums with the residue of magic, an aftereffect of the spell that brought you to this place. A quick glance reveals that you are in a small room, devoid of any life save for yourself. The sound of dripping water can be heard faintly, and the stone walls are slick with moisture. In complete defiance of logic, a torch is already lit, resting in a sconce near the room's single door.

I move to C4, and search both the door and the sconce.

You definitely find the door, and the sconce is indeed there too.

You don't think either of them will kill you.

Thelas is indisposed right now, so while he gets back to normal, I have your thread at my mercy. :smallamused:

Am I able to open the door with a readied action to smack anything living on the open side that is within reach? If so, I do so. If not, I merely open the door.

Before doing either, I draw my spiked chain and enter Punishing Stance.

Readied actions cannot be taken outside of combat.

Even without that, you can't take any action while holding a readied action, or you lose it.

To the south, the corridor ends in a T-junction after 30', with a split east after 20'.

To the east, the corridor splits north/south after 10', and there's a door north after 30'. The corridor goes on further than your light reaches.

I go east and peer south, away from the door, into the gloom.Do I see anything, perhaps a passage ~15 ft. down the heads west, looking as though it may link up with the one heading east from the south tunnel?

I had assumed you stepped out the door, so the turning is 20' south.

There's also a door east after 15' to your south.

To the north, the corridor turns east after 20'.

Ok, I'll explore the north/east passage. Poke my head around the corner.

You head 10' east, 10' north, and find yourself in an east/west corridor.

West, the corridor ends in a turning north after 30', with another after 20'.

East, there's a door south after 30', a turning north after 20', and the corridor seems to go on further than your light reaches.

The northern corridor leads to a door north after 10'.

The corridor also turns east at that point, and after 10' turns north again.

There's a large red notecard on the eastern wall at that turning.

I pick up the paper (averting my eyes, not looking at it at all) and put it in my sack. I then continue along that passage, not through the door.

20' north, you see a T-junction 10' north.

To the east from where you stand, you see a door south after 25', and a turning south after 30'.

There's a red and white painted bullseye on the floor outside the door.

There is a human wearing a chain shirt and holding a longsword standing behind a beast with patchy dark fur that covers its unhealthy shrunken black skin in some places. Open sores dot its hide and a feral, catlike head glances with it's blank eyes at the wall in front of it.
