this is for team metasynapse. If you are not part of team metasynapse, GO AWAY!

The marquis' in-town residence is very expensively yet tastefully decorated, and there is a small garden in the front. A path made from whitewashed flagstones leads to the entrance. The door is polished oak with silver trimmings. A cord hangs down the side, obviously a doorbell.

Kyrthain
2010-06-08, 06:52 AM
Kardum walks up towards the doorbell, and rings it.

planswalker
2010-06-08, 12:33 PM
A very well groomed man in servant's livery answers the door, "What is your business here?"

Kyrthain
2010-06-08, 03:09 PM
Kardum replies curtly

"We have just been called here by your mistress to serve as protection. May we speak with her?"

planswalker
2010-06-08, 03:11 PM
"Right this way. Please leave all weapons with me. If the Marquis accepts your service they will of course be permitted inside. Until then, please respect the customs of this house."

Kyrthain
2010-06-08, 03:19 PM
Kardum sets down a set of small knives, and then scoffs

"Unfortunately, I am unable to leave my most potent weapon with you, unless of course, you are aware of a method of safely removing one's mind."

planswalker
2010-06-08, 03:22 PM
"It is merely a custom in this house that no physical weapons be allowed in with strangers. It's just a formality, but please respect it."

Kyrthain
2010-06-08, 03:30 PM
Kardum replies

"Of course. Here are the only physical weapons on me"

He then hands the servant the knives.

planswalker
2010-06-08, 03:34 PM
He waits expectantly for the other 2 to comply.

would you mind sending the rest of metasynapse a pm about the renewed activity on this thread? i'd do it myself, but i'm rather busy atm.

demidracolich
2010-06-08, 04:19 PM
The warforged nods, understanding the need for security, and hands his massive blade to the guards. "Careful, you may need more than one man to lift it.", he says.
Yay large bastard sword because of strongarm bracers!
Also I pmed DmofDarkness links to the new recruitment, OOC, and this thread.

Fable Wright
2010-06-09, 11:59 AM
Synathid walks in, and says This is, indeed, inefficient, as some can make physical weapons with their minds, he says, making a greataxe with minor creation, psionic.

planswalker
2010-06-09, 01:32 PM
The doorman looks at you pointedly. "Of course, it is a formality only. Neither magics nor psionics are covered by this. It's merely an archaic tradition. Now, please leave that greataxe you just formed with the other weapons and let us proceed, assuming you don't have other weapons hidden somewhere?"

demidracolich
2010-06-09, 05:28 PM
"Don't worry, there is no need for us to conceal weapons because as the others said, we never truly lack a weapon." The Warforged replies.
Since DmofDarkness is offline currently, we should just assume he agrees to speed things up.

planswalker
2010-06-09, 06:04 PM
"Just as soon as the genteman with the axe places it with the others." The doorman seems to be blindly stubborn on this point.

demidracolich
2010-06-09, 09:34 PM
Seeing his companions seems not to be paying attention, the Warforged takes the axe and places it with the other. "There, may we proceed now?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-09, 09:37 PM
Note: sorry if I didn't make this clear. He materialized the axe on the weapons table.

planswalker
2010-06-09, 09:50 PM
"OF course, you may proceed now." He shows you inside, where you see a well-furnished parlor. "Please go through the door on the right. The Marquis will see you now."

dm confession: the doorman was a stall tactic while i immersed myself in this world to make sure i effectively dm'd this.

Fable Wright
2010-06-09, 09:52 PM
we walk through the door, and...

2010-06-09, 10:12 PM
Marquis Odelia Heyne is a middle-aged woman with long black hair. She is sitting in a luxurious chair and fanning herself lightly. When the three of you enters, she says, "Would you three happen to be the help i sent my agent to hire down at that inn?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-09, 10:29 PM
Yes, we are. What would you have us do for you? Need stats (reputation, money, etc.). Roll if you need it (knowledge: Nobility and royalty): [roll0] Also, for ease of execution, character sheet it here (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=210508)

"Well, i am a wealthy woman, born into a high-ranking family. My cousin Wolfram's bid for the throne has made all his kin targets for the... unscrupulous who may want to weaken his position. I need some people who are competent to protect me from nefarious attacks."

Fable Wright
2010-06-09, 10:40 PM
Well, seeing that we have 2 guards who never sleep, and that we have tremendous magical powers, we may just be what you're looking for.

planswalker
2010-06-09, 10:41 PM
dmofdarkness knowledge check results:
The marquis is a woman from one of the three great families currently vying for the throne. She is a first cousin to Archduke Wolfram Rocholl, but she has little direct contact with him. Her father had a high title but his wealth was diminishing, so he married his only daughter off to a merchant who had made a lot of money trading weapons in the last war. She gives generously to both the charitable actions of Pelor and the Sisters of salvation, but she hasn't been bothered to attend a temple in years. She became concerned when her husband died in a hunting accident last month and has been searching for competent protection ever since. no one who has applied has yet met her standards.

planswalker
2010-06-09, 11:31 PM
tomorrow. going to bed for now.

planswalker
2010-06-10, 11:35 AM
"Magical powers, you say? please give me a demonstration. I must say, two of you who never sleep is definitely be a good selling point. Show me the sorts of powers you three possess. If they seem sufficiently potent, you are hired and you can haggle with my butler over the price."

Kyrthain
2010-06-10, 02:34 PM
"Perhaps we should step outside. I can best display my full potential if I need not worry about causing undue property damage."

planswalker
2010-06-10, 02:44 PM
"I'd rather not be disturbed from here if i can avoid it. How about a less public demonstration? you can use that wall as a target if needs be. I've never much liked the wallpaper." She points to a wall on your left. "Just be sure not to destroy my home in the process. You will have to be doing a lot of indoor protection and i will need to know that i won't have to rebuild my home afterwords."

demidracolich
2010-06-10, 02:51 PM
"Well, perhaps some non desturctive demonstrations first would be useful.", the warforged replies and suddenly seems to grow larger until his head almost touches the ceiling and suddenly a chair appears where he is and he is now at the chairs location.
I use expansion and then dimension swap.

planswalker
2010-06-10, 03:00 PM
"Very nice." She says approvingly. "But these are hardly the limits of what you three can do, i'm sure. What else?"

btw, what i'm hamming for here is each of you manifesters to show her a 3rd level power or augment a power to your max augment level in some way that she could tell as an untrained observer.

demidracolich
2010-06-10, 03:20 PM
"Very well then, my powers may not be as powerful as the others, but I have other techniques." he moves back to a chair growing even larger, a shadow double of him seems to appear and also a small fire elemental. He and the couble both strike the chair and breaks it.
Augmented expansion, shadow blade technique, and distracting ember. My character is a psychic warrior 4/swordsage 2 and doesn't know 3rd level powers.

planswalker
2010-06-10, 03:28 PM
"Most impressive. What about the rest of you?"

that'll do lich, that'll do.

Kyrthain
2010-06-10, 05:46 PM
"So, you said you didn't like the wall? You may wish to cover your ears."

Kardum unleashes a screaming blast of energy at the wall.

Energy Lance, sonic, full augment
[roll0] Ignores hardness

planswalker
2010-06-10, 05:47 PM
Your blast leaves cracks running all throughout the wall. "I am most impressed." she says. "What about the last of you?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-11, 12:22 AM
Synathid, without even a hint of distraction, creates a large tree in the room, weighing 275 lbs, and chucks it at the wall. [roll0] (probably finishing the poor wall off)

...that was a horrible damage roll.

Minor creation, psionic, augmented, then uses telekinetic thrust, augmented

planswalker
2010-06-11, 12:31 AM
The tree cracks the wall, and the ceiling groans. "Very well. That is demonstration enough. You three are indeed capable of defending me. I approve. Now then, how much did you think i should pay you?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-11, 12:33 AM
(What are average bodyguard wages?) Off-hand, I'd say 15000 gp/week, but that could be horribly wrong

planswalker
2010-06-11, 12:50 AM
most people are getting between 100-200 gp per day, but your particular patron is more wealthy than the average merchant. She's also more demanding.

Kyrthain
2010-06-11, 06:01 AM
Kardum thinks about how rich she is

Knowledge Nob/Roy![roll0]

planswalker
2010-06-11, 06:37 AM
"A lady of her position is likely to make an excess of 100,000 gold per year off of the various lands and businesses she owns. She can likely be expected to consider her life valuable enough to pay a significant fraction of that to continuing said life.

Fable Wright
2010-06-11, 10:52 AM
then, 250gp/day, as some of us need not sleep, and her life is assured. And maybe a bonus of 1000gp for each foiled assassination attempt.

planswalker
2010-06-11, 10:54 AM
was that an in-character proposal?

Fable Wright
2010-06-11, 11:00 AM
Well, no, waiting for the other character's opinions, but the thing is... we may be able to tack on knighthood if she becomes the ruler, as one term of employment. (Yes, no in-game effect, unless the game continues as one where various people decide to try to make a coup de etat or something, but the thought is nice.)

planswalker
2010-06-11, 11:06 AM
i don't plan on abandoning this sandbox until everyone else quits.

demidracolich
2010-06-11, 04:31 PM
I'm fine with that proposal.

Kyrthain
2010-06-11, 07:52 PM
Works for me. I have +4 to diplomacy. If no-one's got better, I'll deliver.

planswalker
2010-06-11, 07:54 PM
when you're ready, say something.

demidracolich
2010-06-11, 08:59 PM
I have a negative cha so I'm not saying it.

Kyrthain
2010-06-11, 09:34 PM
Kardum smiles

"I believe an important lady such as yourself would be able to afford a wage of 25 platinum per day for each of us, especially for something so important as your protection. Perhaps we can work out some sort of additional payment once we have thwarted any would-be attackers."

Diplomacy:[roll0]

planswalker
2010-06-11, 09:38 PM
"Why, that seems quite fair to me. I am worth much more 75 platinum a day. Now then, what do you three propose to do about that wall you just tore apart? And what about my chair you just destroyed?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-12, 04:07 PM
:smalleek: My character starts using repair damage, psionic. Rapidly. And then tries to start his 8 hour rest after using all of his power points.

planswalker
2010-06-12, 04:21 PM
She is grateful for this and gives each of you your first day's wage. (25 pp)

Kyrthain
2010-06-12, 05:59 PM
What time is it?

planswalker
2010-06-12, 06:35 PM
I figured the interview happened in the afternoon of day 1, then dmofdarkness repaired the wall. the lady gave y'all day 1's wages, then we fast forward to the next morning. If either of y'all want to do something else on day one, just begin with the caveat "As [dmofdarkness' character] is repairing the wall, i..." or some variation.

Kyrthain
2010-06-12, 06:37 PM
Where are we sleeping? And by we, I mean me, the only one who needs sleep

planswalker
2010-06-12, 06:40 PM
she puts you up in servants' quarters for free. she wants you to stay close at hand should she need you. she will allow you to spend your money to improve your living conditions if you want.

Kyrthain
2010-06-12, 06:46 PM
As he enters the servants quarters, Kardum's disdain is poorly hidden

"I suppose these shall do for now."

He then goes to sleep

Fable Wright
2010-06-12, 07:15 PM
So does Synathid, for the power point restoration, sleeping with his eyes open to make it look like he is awake.

planswalker
2010-06-12, 07:17 PM
uh, 'forged do not have to sleep to regain power points. He just has to "rest" for 8 hours, which dnd defines as not attacking, being attacked, or doing anything strenuous and fluffed to include not really moving much. they are still alert however, and will notice if crap comes up.

Fable Wright
2010-06-13, 05:48 PM

planswalker
2010-06-13, 05:50 PM
no prob. are we ready to advance the plot and meet the first villain?

Fable Wright
2010-06-13, 06:12 PM
I am, at least. Waiting for others...

planswalker
2010-06-13, 06:16 PM
how long do you want to wait before i advance the plot?

Fable Wright
2010-06-13, 06:19 PM
Until the rest of the party posts.

planswalker
2010-06-13, 06:21 PM

demidracolich
2010-06-13, 07:43 PM
The warforged goes to retrieve his weapons and then sits down to rest in one of the empty rooms.
On with the plot!!

Kyrthain
2010-06-13, 07:54 PM
Kardum wakes from his sleep, and quickly exits the servants quarters, grumbling.

To the plot, AWAY!

planswalker
2010-06-13, 07:59 PM
the marquis calls all of you down rather early in the morning. She is going for a walk in the park and wants to know how the three of you will protect her without obstructing her view of the scenery.

Fable Wright
2010-06-14, 07:18 AM
Then, we walk behind her, watching for threats. With an action to use ectoplasmic cocoon readied for when something enters my sight.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 09:20 AM
She assumes that you know best, and begins her stroll in the park. About 5 minutes into the walk, kardum notices that a shadow in the bushes has been following them about 20 feet out and to the left.

Fable Wright
2010-06-14, 10:53 AM
keeping action readied, approaches the suspect, with one of the other 2 (hopefully) watching, the other scanning for more threats that would use this person as a decoy.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 11:31 AM
i'm afraid i want to avoid godmodding them so i want to hear their actions from them themselves.

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 03:44 PM
Hoping that someone else understands drow sign (unlikely), Kardum relays the information with quick flicks of his hands. He then begins focusing his mind

Attempt to gain psionic focus. Forgot to mention this earlier, but can we assume that whenever we have some spare time I spend the time to regain my focus?
[roll0]

demidracolich
2010-06-14, 04:06 PM
the warforged had been moving with the shadows surronding him. He quickly scans around and also begins focusing.
Already in child of shadow stance and gaining psionic focus.
concentration check: [roll0] Yes, I have beast concentration.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 04:09 PM
As you approach the shadows, they retreat and vanish

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 04:23 PM
Kardum closes his eyes for a split second, and begins scanning the area mentally

Focus again[roll0]
Manifest touchsight: Kardum essentially has blindsight out to 60 ft. Used 5pp, and lasts 6 minutes.

demidracolich
2010-06-14, 04:27 PM
The warforged draws his weapon and shield continues looking around.
spot check: [roll0], the price I paid for the high concentration is low spot and listen. Also listen check: [roll1]

planswalker
2010-06-14, 04:29 PM
at first, nothing registers. Then, as if breaking through a barrier, something registers just at the edge of what kardum can detect.

demidracolich
2010-06-14, 04:30 PM
Please disregard checks I made on my last post because I noticed an error on my char sheet. I actually put max ranks in spot.

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 06:37 PM
Kardum calls out to the creature

"Show yourself or I shall destroy you."

Ready action to use a 6d6+6 energy missile if the creature does not immediately reveal themselves. Will expend psionic focus for +2 DC, total DC 20 reflex

planswalker
2010-06-14, 07:04 PM
silence is your answer

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 07:11 PM
Kardum releases a blast of burning energy at the creature

Damage:[roll0]
DC 20 reflex for half.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 07:14 PM
it hits your target, and it disappears from your radius of detection.

"What was that?" your patron asks.

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 07:16 PM
Kardum replies

"It appears you hired protection just in time. Someone, or something, has been skulking about. I've scorched it somewhat, but it appears to be still intact. I shall inform you immediately if I detect it again."

planswalker
2010-06-14, 07:18 PM
"Please do not tell me about these nasty things each and every time; just take care of it and let me know you are doing your job if i ask."

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 07:19 PM
"As you wish, Milady."

planswalker
2010-06-14, 07:22 PM
She continues on her stroll, the three of you walking just behind her. About halfway into the park, kardum detects another presence moving towards y'all, from the right.

Kyrthain
2010-06-14, 07:33 PM
Kardum whispers to the 'forged

"Would you mind assisting me, or would you rather I do everything around here."

ready action to use sapphire nightmare blade when the thing approaches.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 08:27 PM
the Thing approaches 15 feet closer.

Fable Wright
2010-06-14, 10:20 PM
And, as I was in school and missed the action, you forgot one thing: the readied action for ectoplasmic cocoon, which was set to go off as soon as the creature moved. DC 19 to resist, 5 power points; 48 left, 4 cognizance ppts.

planswalker
2010-06-14, 10:30 PM
you never saw the target to be able to manifest at him.

Fable Wright
2010-06-14, 10:41 PM
... do I see him now? and if so, is he trapped?

planswalker
2010-06-14, 10:56 PM
he advancces another 15 feet and then you see him, your power goes off, and he is unable to resist.

Fable Wright
2010-06-14, 10:59 PM
One down, one to go. I'll go send a tree (275lbs) at the other attacker.
[roll0]

planswalker
2010-06-14, 11:12 PM
you hear the lizardfolk scream in pain

Kyrthain
2010-06-15, 06:39 AM

Augmented mind thrust. Now at 33pp
DC 18 will negates
Damage:[roll0]

Fable Wright
2010-06-15, 08:31 AM
Assuming that the thing keeps moving in a straight line, I'll use deja vu to make him keep walking (DC 17 to resist)

planswalker
2010-06-15, 02:17 PM
the mental thrust kills the target, who screams in agony before all the capillaries in his head burst, causing a thin trickle of blood to drip from his eyes, mouth, and ear holes.

600 xp each, along with looting rights if you can convince your mistress to allow it.

She hears the scream, and asks, "Another one?"

Kyrthain
2010-06-15, 02:37 PM
Kardum replies

"It has been dealt with. I shall see if we can find who sent it."

Kardum moves over to the creature, and checks for any sign of employment. He also takes anything that appears to be of value.

planswalker
2010-06-15, 02:49 PM
upon closer inspection, a pair of scale-covered tentacles protrudes from just above its shoulders. it appears that he is rather well-equipped, with all sorts of magical gear, but no weapons on him or identification of any sort, other than the rather out of place tentacles. assuming you strip the corpse, check the spoiler

+1 mithral chain shirt
leser crystal of arrow deflection
ring of the darkhidden
amulet of the mighty fists
2 doses of large scorpion venom

pretend you don't know the properties until you identify them

Kyrthain
2010-06-15, 02:51 PM

EDIT:Whoops, forgot that I took light armor proficiency.

planswalker
2010-06-15, 02:57 PM

Fable Wright
2010-06-15, 04:20 PM

Kyrthain
2010-06-15, 04:24 PM
I couldn't care less about the poison or the amulet, and I assume the ring is just about stealth

demidracolich
2010-06-15, 04:41 PM
The warforged continues to stand ready and tries to see what exactly the thing is.
not incorrect spot check: [roll0], -1 due to focuses trait.
Also how close is it now?

planswalker
2010-06-15, 04:42 PM
the ring makes you invisible to creatures with darkvision, although if they could see you with normal vision, they still can. it basically cancels out darkvision. the crystal augments armor to provide an additional +5 ac against ranged attacks. it has to be attached to armor.

planswalker
2010-06-15, 04:43 PM
the warforged sees thre shapes in a bush just off the path, about 20 feet ahead. they are rather small shapes, but humanoid.

demidracolich
2010-06-15, 04:51 PM
Also wouldn't it be better for me to take the crystal because its a shield crystal and I actually have a shield? Yes, I have checked that it is a shield crystal.
Also wow, two natural 20s already.

Kyrthain
2010-06-16, 06:54 PM
Kardum unleashes three blazing orbs at the shadows

"I have had enough of you lurking around. Die."

1st:[roll0]
2nd:[roll1]
3rd:[roll2]
DC 18 reflex for half

planswalker
2010-06-16, 07:01 PM
You hear three shrieks as three children who were playing in the bushes narrowly escape being killed by your blasts.

i decided that all children have improved evasion. that's part of how they manage to survive childhood. luckily, fate had them roll 2 18's and a 20. Y'all are in a public park. not everyone who is lurking in the bushes is an assassin.

The marquis asks "what the (unladylike term) you thought you were doing, attacking children like that?"

Fable Wright
2010-06-16, 07:07 PM
...My character not having attacked, is standing over by the employer, looking for actual threats.

Kyrthain
2010-06-16, 07:30 PM
I would have thought that my touchsight power should have been enough to tell that they were children

Fable Wright
2010-06-16, 07:32 PM
...evidently not.

planswalker
2010-06-16, 07:49 PM
not the way i understand it to quote p. 138 of XPH, "You ignore invisibility, darkness, and concealment, though you must have line of effect to a target to discern it." It allows you to know the presence of creatures, but you still have to rely on sight and sound to identify them. You can't simply assume that every noise in a bush needs to be blasted. this is a city and all sorts of people with perfectly harmless business exist here. this isn't a dungeon crawl. I suspect that you do not like this interpretation of the power. If you really wish, i can let rizban take over as dm of this group. i won't take it personally.

Kyrthain
2010-06-16, 08:24 PM
I have no problem with you as dm. The RAW is kinda unclear, and I guess we just have conflicting views of what exactly it does. I do have detect hostile intent for determining who wants us dead, so I'll rely on that more.

planswalker
2010-06-16, 08:26 PM
all the other psionic bodyguards are. soory about the confusion. just say something to the marquis. she will take any sort of answer as an excuse.

Fable Wright
2010-06-16, 08:29 PM
He only meant for your safety. You were just attacked by several shady characters, and his biological body was too twitchy to give his (meager) (no offence, he thinks his brain is the most advanced thing in this universe) brain a chance to process anything.

planswalker
2010-06-16, 08:31 PM

The rest of the stroll is actually rather pleasant. However, as the group of you reach the end, one of the statues comes to life, then another, then all six of them from around the entrance to the park. They are far larger than a typical gargoyle, standing over 14 feet tall. They give a bloodcurdling scream and attack.

The warforged shifts his posture and the wind seems to lift him making his steps lighter. He then readies himself for combat.

Gargoyle1:21
Gargoyle2:20
Gargoyle3:18
Gargoyle4:17
Gargoyle5:12
dmofdarkness:10
Gargoyle6:3
demidracolich:2

and, here is turn 1:
kyrthian blasts the first 5 gargoyles with energy missiles of fire the first four are scorched, the last one manages to miss the worst of the blast.
Gargoyle1: [roll0]
Gargoyle2: [roll1]
Gargoyle3: [roll2]
Gargoyle4: [roll3]
Gargoyle5: [roll4]
the 5 gargoyles bridge 80 of the 100 foot gap separating them from y'all, ending their formation standing shoulder to shoulder
mdofdarkness launches his brick at the gargoyle in the middle, #3. it hits and deals 35 damage.
The sixth 'goyle takes his place next to #5
demidracolich approaches #1, and hits it for a total of 24 damage. the concentration hit. the thing has reach and takes an AoO, but misses

planswalker
2010-06-16, 10:51 PM
and turn 2:
kyrthian blasts the first 5 gargoyles with energy missiles of fire the two, four, and five are scorched, one and three manage to miss the worst of the blast.
Gargoyle1: [roll0]
Gargoyle2: [roll1]
Gargoyle3: [roll2]
Gargoyle4: [roll3]
Gargoyle5: [roll4]

this destroys #1 and 3,
the remaining three in that clump crowd around demidracolich, but miss. They seem to be swinging savage attacks at the cost of accuracy

I will make an anathemic carapace (maxed HD) astral construct to fight for me, attacking the most injured gargoyle, and entering a position where it would affect the most number of gargoyles with it's death (Maximum adjacent gargoyles), while Synathid directs the lady away from the gargoyles.
(forgot attack roll, but deals damage equal to it's HD on death. Improved grab as it's special power.)

planswalker
2010-06-16, 10:56 PM
the last gargoyle attacks the carapace, dealing 7 damage to it.

i'm afraid that i'm not all too familiar with your astral construct. would you mind rolling the relevant stuff for it?

demidracolich goes now

Fable Wright
2010-06-16, 11:04 PM
I'm not sure either; I'll just use crystal spray instead so that were on the same page. I believe that it dies 5d4 slashing damage in a 20ft cone, reflex half.

planswalker
2010-06-16, 11:17 PM
the cone deals [roll0] damage to the remaining gargoyles. the gargoyle #6 attacks demi, and deals the 7 damage to him. #2 dies, and #6 is unharmed #4 and #5 are heavily damaged.

[roll0] touch attack and the wizard is flanked.
damage: [roll1]

planswalker
2010-06-20, 05:39 PM
you deal 12 damage to him

The wizard attempts to cast a spell without letting down his defenses and casts a spell. Three fiendish scorpions the size of dwarves appear around the duchess and attempt to strike at her unconscious body. two of them strike at the edge of her skirt harmlessly, the third nicks her hand.

Fable Wright
2010-06-20, 06:42 PM
If the creatures are within 5ft of the anathemic carapace, and the spellcaster is within 5ft, Synathid will detonate the construct. If the carapace is within 5ft of the marquis, or if it is not within 5ft of 2 or more enemies, Synathid will use ectoplasmic cocoon to hold the spellcaster (DC 19). It will ready an action to disrupt spellcasting if my power fails to wrap up the spellcaster, but if it succeeds, then the carapace will attack the nearest scorpian.

planswalker
2010-06-20, 06:44 PM

Fable Wright

planswalker
2010-06-24, 08:17 PM

He didn't leave. He joined a different party for AvB. He's doing a solo adventure. Really sucks. Anyways, I say that we just let the wizard pass out from lack of air, and then take 20 on a use rope check to bind her arms and legs.

I'm no good with words, so I'll be blunt. Why did you try to kill the marquis? Who sent you? Tell me, and you may live to walk free.

planswalker
2010-06-30, 07:18 PM
"Heh, if i betray my boss, i won't live to see another day. I'll be as good as dead either way. What's my incentive to cooperate?"

planswalker
2010-07-04, 05:34 AM
he is waiting rather smugly for one of y'all to respond. any of the three of you.

Fable Wright
2010-07-04, 05:37 AM
Well, if you rat out your boss, you die quickly, rather than being repeatedly tortured every day for information, and then possibly after that. We won't kill you, as you have information, but I think your afterlife would be better than us repeatedly bringing you back from death, only to torture you back to that point again.

planswalker
2010-07-04, 05:39 AM
he seems a little taken aback. "You make a rather persuasive argument. What do you want to know?"

Fable Wright
2010-07-04, 05:43 AM
We just want you to tell us who your boss is. After that, we let you go, and you live the lie that you escaped from us. Any information that you tell us didn't come from you. Just as long as you don't double cross us. If you do... we'll make your life a living hell by destroying your credibility, and, after your master learns of your betrayal, no employer would hire you (given that he's most likely rich), and then you live out the rest of your life waiting in fear for the assassination squad. None of this will happen if you tell us who your boss is, don't double cross us, and you might even live, too.

planswalker
2010-07-04, 05:50 AM

Fable Wright
2010-07-04, 06:04 PM
Well, although he has tried to kill her, he wants to live. He cooperated with us. If we let him go, he might spread our reputation around, and giving a first-hand rendition of our skills. On he other hand, it benefits no one if he is killed.
