You come to in the following room:{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_|F_|G_
1|||||||
2||T|T||K||
3|||||||[/table]

The entire room is surrounded by heavy black curtains.

There is a table to your west. There are seven sheets of parchment on the table, six with writing of some sort on them, while the seventh is blank. There is also a red lacquered inkpen resting near the blank sheet, with a note attached to it.

DM notes:
Sheet. (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=213797)

Before materializing, Mistah C will realize that he forgot to bring any sort of ranged weapon, and grab a sling and thirty slingstones, which go in the sack.

He then casts and persists via Divine Metamagic the following spells:

Detect Magic
Shield of Faith (raising his AC to 23)
Lesser Vigor
Magic Weapon (on the longsword)
Ghost Touch Armor (his full plate's AC now applies to incorporeal attacks)
Balor Nimbus (any creature in a grapple with Mistah C takes 6d6 fire damage at the start of his turn)

This done, he opens the curtains at D-1 and heads west toward the Allip.

With Ghost Touch Armour, I'm almost tempted to just give you the XP and not bother rolling. Still, I suppose you might take one hit if you're very unlucky.

Mr. Allip is there as before.

. . . Okay, so with the +1 from Magic Weapon, that makes the first one a hit instead of a miss.

Even so, that's 11 misses in a row right afterwards.

And to think I complained because I missed the Allip 6 times in a row on my run. I thought MY luck was bad.

Do over, but I'll save 7 Destroy Undead uses instead of persisting Detect Magic.

*Ding dong*

This is your captain speaking. We apologise for the holdup. It turns out the presence of the creature you are about to be fighting has been questioned by its original creator, Tanaric. Apparently phrases such as "unfair" and "completely overpowered as written" were used.

Since the creature in question has killed Terran's character once already, this creates an unfortunate dilemma. Please hold.

Eh, it's midnight and I have to get some sleep soon anyway, so I'll wait on a decision from TS. I'm running you and Terran in parallel, so it's more convenient if I can know for sure.

Besides, the powerful thing is really really powerful. It killed Terran's character even though he had an unhittable AC and Abrupt Jaunt.

Or were you looking for something more specific?

(My timezone listed here is Central US, incidentally. I never bothered to change it.)

Oh, duh. I missed the trip in all that, somehow.

I assume I can interpret "move away" as a readied action to just move, right? If so, move into melee range, provoking an AoO.

If not, let me know, and Mistah C will just move further away when it comes into sight.

A3-C8 is the Wrackspawn room.

Just realised . . . are you taking the Tower Shield penalties?

Jarian
2010-06-10, 10:25 AM
Bah!

I thought that was the Hide shield, for some reason. Got the two mixed up.

I can swap Tower Shield proficiency for Extreme Shield Proficiency, which will give me basically the same stats.

Orrrrr I can remember that Crusaders are proficient in all shields anyway.

I'll swap that for an Extreme Wooden Shield, which gives +3 AC. If anything would have hit by 1, let me know.

Saph
2010-06-10, 10:30 AM
Yeah, Crusaders are proficient with towers, it's just the -2 attack penalty I remembered.

Extreme Wooden Shield doesn't carry any extra penalties?

Eh, I think one of the bites would have hit, but it's not that big a deal.

Jarian
2010-06-10, 10:31 AM
You strap a large or larger shield to your forearm and grip it with your hand.

These exotic shields are so heavy that you can’t use your shield hand for anything else while using one, nor can you make shield bash attacks.

Going south.

Saph
2010-06-10, 10:35 AM

Jarian

Purchases will be contingent on the golem being there or not.

Does a golem's body count as magical steel, for the purposes of lesser ironguard?

Saph
2010-06-10, 11:01 AM
The golem isn't in front of you right now. This is a sealed room.

A golem would probably count as magical metal, yeah, though I'd have to check the wording. How would you get access to a level 5 arcane spell anyway, though?

Jarian
2010-06-10, 11:04 AM
I meant it still being on the map.

I haven't figured that out yet, but I trust there's a way to do so with less than 2000 gp.

Saph
2010-06-10, 11:08 AM
As for that, in-character, you have no idea. :smalltongue:

(Believe it or not, I actually toned the golem down from the version in the notes. Originally it was supposed to be immune to nonmagical metal.)

Jarian
2010-06-10, 11:11 AM
There's a difference between in character and out of character knowledge here? :smallconfused:

Well, I'll see about purchases then. In the meanwhile, golem as magical steel, yea or nay?

Saph
2010-06-10, 11:12 AM
Given that it's animated by magic, yeah, I'd say it probably counts as magical metal.

edit: And I'm out for the evening, so you'll have a bit of time to decide.
