I think aboleths and yuan-ti are incredibly cool monsters just from their pictures in the MM and their role as ruthless masterminds makes them even more interesting.
I like to have both races appear as major enemies in my next campaign and would like to have as much material on them I can get. Are there any other sources in addition to the obvious Lords of Madness and Serpent Kingdoms? They are both rather late books in the long history of D&D and somehow they must have started to establish their reputation long before that? Anything you could direct me to?

Races of Faerun has a bit on yuan-ti culture- not much that isn't in Serpent Kingdoms though.

MM IV has a new yuan-ti variant (yuan-ti ignan).

MM III has a yuan-ti dragon (Ssvaklor)

Fiend Folio has the yuan-ti anathema and the ti-khana template (to make animals more yuan-ti-ish)

Savage Species has a yuan-ti prestige class, and spells, feats, and weapons that may fit.

(Also, Elder Evils has an obyrith daemon with a strong affinity toward yuan-ti.)

I learned some about the Yuan Ti from the Icewind Dale games (1st and 2nd) for the PC.

Walkthroughs of the Yuan Ti areas here:

This might or might not help.
