So, as some of you may remember, I have been preparing for a Savage World's Supers game. The first session was today, and was better than I could have imagined. So, I'm going to subject all of you to the story.

First, the characters:

Nighthawk

Middle-aged civilian human. Despite having no super powers, he is a dead shot with a bow. He comes equipped with multiple different types of trick arrows. His civilian identity is one Georgi Smyslov, a Russian businessman. Nighthawk is quite arrogant, believing himself to be the best (at everything). He is allergic to sunlight, burning with astonishing ease.

J-Blader
Sentient Bio-weapon from another reality. J-Blader accidently slipped through a gap in realities, and has no way to get back. He is a plant-based creation, with bone blades that can cut through armor. He is resistant to electricity, and has a vulnerability to cold. His body begins to break down when in contact with salt water, and he loses access to his blades and his electric resistance.

ShadowEmber
Undead master of fire. ShadowEmber can manipulate fire, shooting bolts of flame, causing a ring of fire to explode around them, and lashing at enemies with a flame whip. He requires a full round of preparation to become his undead form.

Mercury
Human Speedster. Civilian Identity: Max Strider. A professional thief, Max was born with his powers. He can move at supersonic speeds, pummeling his opponents faster than they can even react. He has an unfortunate tendency to monologue, often resulting in his opponent gaining an advantage. He has also discovered that any contact with salt water at all will rob him of his powers. He has not discovered a way around this.

Iron Shield
Powered Suit. Civilian Identity: Timothy Starke. No relation to Tony Stark. No one knows much about Iron Shield. He tends to be very arrogant. His suit allows him to fly and punch with much greater accuracy and strength. He also has small short-range burst missiles.

The Setting:

The setting is Neccessary Evil. The V'Sori, through treachery and deceit, or possibly deceit and treachery, have taken over the earth. They pulled a fast one on the superheroes, who were the main defense of the planet, and became the dictators of earth in one fell swoop. That was in 2018. It is now 2020, and the villains( who were not targeted by the V'sori at first), are now the core of the resistance. The center of this resistance is in Star City, a star shaped island off of the coast of Manhattan.
[spoiler]

And we find our anti-heroes in a prison transport, shackled with power nullifiers, and headed for the notorious Star City prison, which is infamous for supers going in, and none coming out. Rumor has it that the V'Sori dissect capes to figure them out. Conveniently after all of the prisoners have introduced themselves(Hi, I"m Iron Shield....Hello, Iron Shield), the transport suddenly flips through the air! Everything is chaos! The vehicle finally comes to a rest, and and one last explosion rips the side of the transport off. Through the hole steps....Dr. Destruction.

[spoiler]
Dr. Destruction is the most famous supervillain in Star City. He leads the Resistance.

"Do you want to live?"
Nods and grunts assent to the affirmative, and Dr. Destruction's minions drag the villains into a waiting copter.

As they are flying away, the anti-heroes see a squad of K'tharens(V'Sori shock troopers) arriving at the scene of the crash.

As they continue to fly away, Dr. Destruction explains that would like them to form an Omega Resistance cell. He also is not giving them a choice. The minions place clay and a receiver on each set of shackles, and Dr. Destruction drops them out of the chopper. Telepathically, he tells them they have 7 seconds to hit the ground. If they agree to help him, the explosives will go off, their powers will come back, and they will live. If not, well, there's a chance they kill an alien on the way down. All of our self serving villains agree quickly.

Their first mission: rescue Mindjack, a famous thief, from the prison that they are being dropped onto.
Dr. Destruction being slightly literal, the villains crash through the roof of the cell block. The eight drones in the block are quite taken aback, and give the heroes a minute to recover.

Mercury takes off around the prison, looking for Mindjack. The others jump on the drones. ShadowEmber, Iron Shield, and J-Blader each take on two of the drones. Nighthawk sneaks away toward a guard shack to locate some sort of weapon(his having been confiscated).

Nighthawk arrives at the guard shack, opens the door -- and sees four more drones. With a swift look around, Nighthawk dives toward the blaster on the desk, rolls and fires a shot at one of the drones. He misses. The shot actually goes through two doors and a window into the cell block. The drones immediately fire back, blasting Nighthawk into unconsciousness.

Meanwhile, Mercury has been trying unsuccessfully to pick the electronic lock to Mindjack's cell. Queries to Mindjack produce:
"My mommy doesn't let me have a cookie after dinner." The cell occupant across from him, however, is quick to try and garner assistance. She tells Mercury that the key is with one of the guards-- who left on some sort of call about a prison transport accident. Mercury takes off toward the scene of the accident.

At the prison block, things are not going as well. ShadowEmber seems to be able to almost catch the walls on fire, but is not able to actually impact the drones. J-Blader's bone blades are striking true, but bouncing off. Iron Shield seems to be simply flailing wildly, hoping to luckily hit one of the drones. On the other hand, the drones attacking ShadowEmber seem to have been trained by him, and the ones attacking Iron Shield and J-Blader are having trouble with their vibroblades simply sticking in the skin of their armored opponents.

With the luck of a hero, Nighthawk comes to just in time to see the drones leave the room for the cell block, getting up, he notices one more pistol, and grabs it as he runs out of the room. Getting to the cell block just behind the drones, he throws the first blaster in between the drones, and in midair, hits it with a blast from his second blaster. The explosion scraps two of the drones. The other two turn and blast the plucky Nighthawk into sleep again.

Mercury has found the K'tharen raiding party, who seem content with taking potshots at him. He identifies the leader, and attempts to pummel him into submission. He fails. The K'tharen Sergent is also unable to connect with Mercury, though. Mercury, failing to find a key in an obviously pickpocketable location, grabs the alien, and starts running back toward the prison. With the K'tharen's feet dragging on the ground. As he approaches the prison, he vibrates his body to phase through the wall, dropping the mostly dead K'tharen behind him. Still going at supersonic speeds. The whole cell block hears the impact. Mercury retrieves the key, and frees Mindjack.

During this time, a couple of the drones have been knocked to the ground, but our villains have also taken some damage. Mercury decides that he has had enough. He takes Mindjack and Nighthawk(still unconscious) and carries them to the retrieval zone in the prison courtyard. He returns and grabs the rest of the heroes two at a time and brings them to the courtyard as well.

When Dr. Destruction arrives a few seconds later, he is impressed. He drops them off at an abandoned warehouse in a seedier part of town and leaves them with: "I'll be in touch."

Next installment will be in two weeks.
