THE EXALTED ARENA

[Bracket 1][Match 1]

You stand in an empty room, with a single candle on a stand in the center. A door opens, and light pours in.
The voice of the Patron is heard in every nook and cranny of the Arena.
"...and for the first battle, we have a simple duel of duos. This two on two match will last until all members on one team surrender or are rendered unconscious. On the left, we have a gift from Autochthon, Initiator of Glorious Triumph, of the Adamant Caste. On their team is Dynames, of the Night Caste. Fighting against them is Steel Waterfall, a Full Moon, and Peerless Blossom of Violence, of the Fair Folk. Well, now onto the terrain. As you can see, the teams are two hundred paces apart, on a flat field, and there is a large fire in the middle. They won't be able to battle hand to hand unless someone gets over the ten foot high flames. And now, for the surprise."
The world gets darker, but now you see what happened. From the four sides of the Arena, large slabs of stone are moving close together. Soon you stand in complete darkness, except for the glow of the fire, which comes out about 25 paces on either side.
"The match will begin in 5...4...3...2..."

Dynames' hands whirled as the reached for both the bow on his back and a broadhead arrow in the quiver. He studied both opponents as the announcer counted down the time, waiting for the right moment to start. His golden armor gleamed in the firelight, his eyes going from foe to foe. A fae and a moon-born.... But why would the moon born be with the fae.... Strange bedfellows indeed.

The Initiator of Glorious Triumph drew her daiklave warily, letting her anima flare as the countdown began. Precautions needed to be taken against members of the audience leaving early, after all, and the animas of her caste strengthened glass to compare favorably with refined steel. Transparent eyelids fluttered as the Alchemical's myriad visual enhancements adjusted to the lighting, the manuevering thrusters to her flight system unfolding from her back behind her. "Strike from shadows, I'll draw attention."

Spending five peripheral motes to flare anima, because most of my charms are passive and it just seemed like the sort of thing an Adamant Caste should do before a public appearance. As for Join Battle, you say Perception+Awareness, but p. 141 of Exalted 2E says Wit+Awareness, so I'll just roll the higher and we'll not count the leftmost die if it switches to what the book says.

White jets of energy pouring out from her back and manuevering jet wing mounts, the Adamant hovers in the air for a brief moment before rocketing toward the nearest side wall, steadily gaining lift to overcome the flames. With only smoke as an obstruction, and she switches to a reverse grip so as to examine the Foglamp Crystal in the pommel before glancing out toward her opponents once more. After a split second, she switches back and holds the blade out vertically so she can focus on another Core, this one in the Bracers.

Dash action toward whichever wall wouldn't put me in front of my partner, also gaining altitude enough to overcome the flames. No ground gained moving toward their side of the Arena, however. Even if the Foglamp Crystal wouldn't work on smoke, the combination of Light Intensification Filters and Flash Shutters should allow the Initiator to deal with the lighting issue. Finally, I'll activate the Shielding Block with a Willpower point to increase my Hardness, lethal soak, and bashing soak by 6.

I'm going to say, since it's smoke and not fog or steam, you get a +3 to the P+A roll to see through it.

With a mighty roar, Steel changes. He seems to double in size, and while the loose robe he wore is torn to shreds, his armor shifts with him. His eyes retreat into their sockets, while his hair grows ever longer, tougher, till it is almost impossible to tell from the rest of his armor. Finally, he slams his great hammer into the grown, bathed in the silver light of his anima.


Shift to Warform, using Quicksilver Face Knack(speed 3 action, for an extra mote). Using Bruise Relief Method, Halting the Scarlet Flow, Armor Forming technique as gift charms.
If possible, also activating Hide Toughening Essence(not sure if using gift charms counts as charm activation)

Allowing a slow gain of elevation as she rockets along the wall of the Arena, the Initiator takes a deep breath as she approaches the smoke wall as a precaution against the fumes. Her radiant anima cuts through the smoke like a blade, her lips sealed as she slowly exhales through her nose to keep the fumes out while she passes through.

Another Dash, this one moving along the wall with a slight gain of elevation. With the Wings Mutation granted by Manifold Transhuman Implants the Initiator covers 22 yards per Dash with aerial manuevering, so assuming the aforementioned paces are yards she should just clear the smoke.

Dynames only nodded to his odd ally as she took flight. He drew back an arrow, looking from one foe to the other. While he was unfamiliar with the abilities of a fae, he knew the strength behind a lunar's blows. Carefully arcing his bow upwards, he let out a quiet prayer to Sol Invictus. Let those who defy the Chosen be brough down swiftly. And let fly the arrow.

Blossom sprinted forward, heading towards the fire in the middle of the field. As she did so, her form began to change slightly, small thorns bursting out of her skin and her visage taking a more demonic tone.

Behind her, the two Talon's screeched as they spread wings made of moss and hawthorn and took to the air.

First a glimpse of pale light, soon revealing the form of the Initiator. Steel yearns to charge, smashing his foe, but knows that to do so know would be rash, something his mentor spent many days beating into his head. Instead, he cautiously moves forward, each plodding step moving him closer to the enemy, without overextending himself.

Move forward 5 yards.
Activate hide toughening essence for 2 motes, giving 4 more natural soak to both B and L.

The light of his anima intensifies, and seems to bunch behind him, urging him forward, and watchers notice him covering ground much quicker.


Activate Relentless Lunar Fury(reflexive), using the Fury-OK keyword to also use Might Bolstering Blow and Wasp Sting Blur
Move 10 yards closer to Initiator(bonus due to anima power).

Having cleared the smoke, the world was clear to the Initiator once more. The best option in any tactical scenario was conversion, but such was not available here. Division, however, was possible, if the beasts no longer had their master to restrain them against attacking the Mortal Moonsilver. The decision was made, and in that instant the Initiator took action.

The flight went into a sharp dive, pulling up just short of the ground. The flare of her anima was enough to illuminate her position, but she wanted to draw the attention of the fae. Holding her mirrored shield ahead of her, the Adamant angled it so that it formed an angle between the adjacent inferno and the raksha's face, aiming to draw his eye toward the new light source... And away from the blade spinning in her magnetic joint wrist like a buzzsaw. Once she was close enough, the angle of rotation on the blade was adjusted so the bottom moved outward an eighth of a turn before swinging in a horizontal arc, the rapid spin of the blade arcing in a seemingly wild manner to compensate for whatever defense the Wyldborn mustered.

Aerial dash into melee range, then flurry five attacks.

As Blossom parried the first attacks, she sent a small pulse of Wyld energy from her hand, down through the hilt and into the blade of her sword. Her sword-blade began to twist and stretch as if it was a living thing, curling around the Alchemical's daiklave in an attempt to rip it out of her enemy's hands.


Using All-Inclusive Nightmare Defence, allowing for a disarm attempt for each attack successfully parried.

The Fair Folk warrior was fast, the Initiator couldn't deny that. However, the roiling blade wasn't faster than the speed of thought, and the same could not- No, would not be said for the Adamant. The magnetic joint elbows and shoulders shifted as she determined how to adjust for each attempt to snag her arcing blade before shifting back into the proper pattern variations, grinding down her prey's hope until victory was obtained.

Perfect Dodge Spam costs 16 motes, one of which is personal.

As Steel nears the fire, he doesn't slow down. Nor does he seem to ready a jump. Instead, he simply hunches slightly and barrels through the flames, coming out the other side barely singed, and even that fades soon.
Move 10 yards forward. Going to soak the fire damage, and otherwise deal with it using my reflexive healing.

Taking a guard action that will abort on the next tick, which should be tick 9.

Blossom swept her blade back as she regarded the Alchemical momentarily. She was fast and was appearing to dodge all of her counterattacks with ease. But how long could she keep it up? She looked up and grinned. Almost certainly not enough now.

Blossom jabbed her sword forward once before the weapon switched hands and sliced at her foe from the side in a sweep of her gossamer blade. Above her, the Talons closed in.


Blossom is attacking twice in a flurry. The two Talons are Dashing forward so that they are directly above the fight so they can swoop later.

The flames die out on his fur, wisps of smoke curling up to vanish in the shadows. But Steel is not motionless. Closing with the solar, none can see any of the supposed affection between the two types of exalts. Only the merciless pounding of Steel's namesake. A short half pivot later, and his great hammer is closing in like a falling wall, nothing in between it and the impudent bug in it's way.
Doing a Flurry to dash forward to be next to Turalisj, and attacking once with my hammer. Due to my Fury charms remaining active, The attack is Speed 4, and I regain 1 mote per extra success on the attack, up 6. If it also inflict damage, I regain 1 mote per level of damage inflicted.

I will also activate my First Dexterity Excellency, for 7 motes(fury raises cap to Attribute+Essence).

After this, Lunar Relentless Fury ends.

Attack:[roll0] (Flurry penalty and automatic success from Lunar's Fury cancel out, leaving me with only a -2 internal penalty, I think. Some confirmation that I'm doing this right would be nice.)

The Fair Folks methods denied predictability. This, naturally, was predictable due to it being one of the Fair Folk. Not predictable in the sense that a mortal mind could anticipate it, but the mind of an Adamant augmented for such evasive manuevers. The stabbing strike was avoided easily enough, a simple sidestep coupled with a ninety degree pivot. The followup was a bit more complex, ankle manuevering thrusts augmenting a leaping frontflip to glide over the swinging blade before landing with practiced grace.

It was now official, however. The Adamant had found a potential threat.
