We've played a few succession games that have been fun, and I know there are people around who like multiplay, so a central thread to organize all general Civ chat seems to be called for. This thread is for discussing Civilization 4 (Vanilla, Warlords, Beyond the Sword) and the upcoming Civ 5. (Or earlier Civ versions if anyone still plays them) and recruiting people to play with.

Use this thread for: http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/wavey.gif

Recruiting people for multiplay games.
Organizing succession games.
Posting silly / interesting / scary / fun screenshots.
Bragging / Lamenting about your game.
Sharing strategy tips.
Asking for help with your game play.
Anticipation and rampant speculation about Civ 5
Sharing game stories that will take no more than 2 or 3 posts to complete your report of a single game.
Asking questions about the game to help you decide if you want to buy it.
Most other things tangentially civ related that don't fall into one of the other categories.

Make a new thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/goodwork.gif

Once you've organized a succession game and are ready to start.
If you intend to do a 'Let's Play' that will go over a game in more detail than can be covered in 2 or 3 posts.

Absolutely no: http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/nono.gif (violations will be reported)

Discussion of Real World politics or religion.
Discussing how to pirate the game.

Gentle warning: Because of Civ V shipping with Steamworks, there may be discussion of Steam in this thread. Please keep this limited only to how it relates to Civ, and only if you really really have to. (ex: "How do I use Steam to do x with my copy of Civ?") There are lots of places on the internet to rant against or vehemently defend Steam. This is not one of them. Trust me, the internet is not waiting with bated breath to learn what you think of Steam and whether you intend to boycott them.

And because every thread I make needs a silly picture:
