Hello everyone. I'm new, and you aren't (more than likely). Well, I guess I should write some more here. So, I suppose I'll tell everyone a bit about myself.

I'm a 24 yr old geeky-farmboy-turned-cityslicker who lives in North Dakota. I play Halo, Left 4 Dead, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-gi-oh, and Dnd. OK. So, "geeky" might be stretching it a little, but, hey, to those who don't think I have a life :P, I DO have a girlfriend, 2 jobs, and many friends. In my free time (which is very little), I work on the writing of my first book which I intend to become a series (if I'm lucky).

Welcome Fox Box Socks, 4e is awful 3.5 is better and 2e was awesome. Of course, GURPS and possibly Star Frontiers are as good as 2e if not better. With that said, you've come to a forum dominated by 3.5 homebrew, but there is more enough 4e players and homebrew if you want to join a Play by Post. Incidentally I only started with RPG's after I had started to read OoTS and I haven't played D&D (yet?). Also a big fan of comics in general, Science Fiction, High Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery, detective and spy fiction, film noir, etc. History buff as well.

I have been playing RPGs for a looooong time, with a basic DnD game that goes back maybe 17 years that we play about once a year.

I also play Earth Dawn infrequently with old friends. And lots of other video, board, and other fantasy stuff.

The reason I came here is because I want to put the word out that I am looking for writers for a Choose Your Own Adventure style series of books. We are making video games based on the books our writers put together.

Hello all! I'm busy trying to get into actual DnD (not just playing premade characters) and I figure this could be a good place to learn. So..yeah.

Hopefully y'all can recommend a good jumping off point for me. I already know how to make basic characters but the whole multi-classing thing and making non-nerfed characters seems to be impossible for me.

Hello, Siege Tower! If you're interested in getting some experience, I'd check out the play-by-post subforum (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51). If you're just looking for some tips on building a character, the roleplaying games subforum (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30) will probably be your best bet (don't let them scare you, they tend towards high optimization :smallwink:). I'm also always happy to answer questions (although I'm not the best source for information on optimization). Hope that helps :smallsmile:

The harder parts of D&D seemed difficult to me as well when I first started. You'll get used to it. Multi-classing is usually unnecessary unless you really want to optimize.

I can only draw when I'm in the mood, but when I am in the mood, I make some pretty nice pictures. I hate math and love to read and write. Yet another new guy. Hi everyone. I'm a roleplayer of DnD 3.5, and recently (ie last couple days) Pathfinder. I'm in the long process of building my own fantasy world for the purposes of writing a book or two, hopefully. Considering the other settings I see in existence, I sometimes feel a bit intimidated, though at the same time I want to rise to the challenge. The 'career' I'm attempting to pursue is to be an electrician. This all while trying to keep some semblance of a life and friends and video games. Its a big task. My future plans involve becoming a translator of English-German literature and traveling to America to improve my mad tranzlation skillz. I've played Pen&Paper Rpgs off and on since I've been... twelve or so (Mostly D&D, with some Shadowrun and The Dark Eye on the side), so this was the perfect site to stumble on.
I'd really like to join a D&D game or form my own freeform one ('cause honestly, there can never be enough roleplaying in your life), but I hope my timezone doesn't make things uncomfortable.

Hey all, I'm Pendragon91 (Because Pendragon was already taken :(), aka Alex, a 19-year old student of International Relations at Aberystwyth University.

Only fairly recently (just over a year ago) got into tabletop RPGs, and I'm pretty much completely in love with anything and everything White Wolf puts out. Also a fan of a rather large number of anime/manga and Visual Novels, as well as a bunch of Webcomics.

I've started to wet my feet as a GM, though I still enjoy playing on the other side of the fence, so to speak. Even though I'm nominally GMT, I've pretty much started living my life in EST due to GM'ing a long-running Exalted game for a bunch of Americans, so can handle pretty much any time.

This looks like a pretty fun community, hope to have a good time here. :)

I started reading OOTS some years ago, lost track, heard of it again, and looked through the forums a liiiittle bit. Lappy9000 has played the DM to my PC for a few years now.

I actually found this site through the TF2 server, but I've also played some D&D, although I've seldom found opportunities. I definitely prefer spell-casters to other classes, and generally prefer wizards to sorcerers. (If they had the patience to read my book, they'd know why.)

I'm also somewhat interested in game design, though not as a career. It's interesting to see how games effect emotional responses in gamers.
