You're not sure what led you to this point, but you found yourself with a choice. You either gave up your life to pay for your 'Crimes against the Empire', or you fought in their monstrous Battlegrounds.

Some of the most hardened criminals, and toughest warriors are in this pit of fighters, and they're all here to kill or be killed. Win enough, and you can earn your freedom. Nobody has ever won enough fights, though.

Gold is earned after each fight, reflecting how entertaining your fight was, and how tough the opponent was.

In the blank, featureless room that you call home now, you find a single magical device, that will sell you any Potion or Oil you wish, and provide any Weapon with no cost for free, ammunition for simple or martial weapons, and provides free, yet poor quality simple and martial weapons. (-1 on attack rolls for the non-free simple weapons, -1 on atk/damage rolls for the martial ones)

There is also a fountain of magical water, which will heal you for 5hp between each encounter.

Your first fight begins soon. You're entered into a tournament, filled with 32 warriors, all eager to earn their way up to the elite ranks of the Battleground.

32 warriors....only one will be left standing. IF you somehow win, you'll be able to rest for a day.

OOC: In this Battleground, there is a 'Save' Function. Pay 50gp, and you can 'save' your progress. From then on, when you die, you don't restart at the beginning, but exactly as you were at the Save point.

Be cautious with your use of Potions/Oils and Saves, though. You'll need that gold later on, when you can actually buy good equipment (which isn't often). Plus, your 'Score', which will be recorded on the Recruitment thread, is your current gold earned, minus the gold spent on consumables and on save points, and minus another 50gp for every death this character suffers.

So, I need a clear decision on whether you can buy Resist Energy Potions for 50 GP(it's a level 1 spell for Duskblades) or not and if my opponents will be able to buy a Resist Energy potion to counter me
Looking over the other threads, no opponent seems to have brought consumables to counter the PC, which would have been fatal especially to the acid spitters, so I request equal treatment. Otherwise I'd have to exchange Fiery Spell for Searing Spell

As the competition progresses, your opponents will learn more and more about you. Your opponents have the same deal as you do, so they can buy potions, if they have learned enough about you to counter your build.

You will learn some details about your opponents too, though I suspect you already know most of what there is to know.

Resist Energy at CL1 is purchasable, yes. It's also available to your opponents.

ah, my bad. I never played Incarnum before and it's been ages since I tried my hand on an arcane caster. In light of that, I'm rather satisfied with my progress this far :smallbiggrin:

I contemplated not saving, if I die he might fail a save and topple over more easily. But with these I guess I can be happy for every kill

Well, you would, but you gained one for the 18 earlier. So it balances out.

The next opponent, Father Aichtuo, is in a larger arena, 125' across. He is carrying a LOT of waterskins.

In each of his buff rounds, he summons a water elemental by emptying a skin out, and he has begun to sing in a language I don't think you have. Aquan?

and those invisibility potions are mean, they almost force me to get See Invisibility myself. With the things they buy those encounters are really a lot meaner here than in the other threads

Not entirely. In fact, running the numbers, they're about even. You're getting it a little rough on grandma, since she does so much damage, but the others got a similar boost from what they did get.

I do, however, have a short list of potions she might get. No guarantee they're the same this time.

EDIT: I've asked, and you would not know. It's not a spell to summon them, that much you know.

He replaces all 5 elementals, and they trap you in a corner. The turn after he summons the 5th, they move to pin you in as before, he's 45' away, they're in a horseshoe between you and him. I assume you had a readied action to drink the potion, and in that case it's your turn.
