Check out either the Mailman build or Cindy, as both tend to use orbs for fun and profit and high amounts of damage.

That's the Mailman. Although I'd suggest toning it down some for use in an actual game. :smallwink:

Feats:
Arcane thesis (Player Handbook 2)
Twin spell (Complete Arcane),
Maximize spell (Player Hanbook)
Empower spell (Player Handbook)
Metamagic school focus (Complete Mage),
Residual Metamagic (Complete Mage),
Energy Admixture (Complete Arcane).
Pratical Metamagic (Races of the Dragon) is good, but requires you to cast spontaneously.

Spontaneous Divination qualifies you for anything that requires spontaneous casting.

Quickened (+1) Twinned (+1) Maximized (+1) Split (+0) Empowered (+0) Invisible (-1) Cooperative (-1) Enervation is a 5th level spell for average 21 negative levels.

Quickened (+1) Twinned (+1) Maximized (+1) Empowered (+0) Invisible (-1) Cooperative (-1) Orb of Force is a 5th level spell for 155 average damage.

Persistent (+4) anything is easy due to Metamagic Effect.

uh...aren't "Orb Wizards" a 4E concept? :smallconfused:

Edit: Oh right, those orbs.

Just be careful not to become a one trick pony (and you will, if you devote ALL of your feats toward blasting), since it'll be easy for DM to make you useless (which he will if you start killing stuff in one shot. Also it will be annoying for the rest of the party).

And Ray Deflection makes your Orb/Range touch spells absolutely useless.
