Several years ago my dad an I stumbled across an old documentary done some time in the 60s or 70s, not sure which, I’m sure it was in the 70s, as it mentioned the deceased Bruce Lee. This show was on some sort of karate tournament they held in Japan. It was bare-knuckle full contact karate with no weight limits or belt restrictions. The documentary was great and the actual fighting was superb, but unfortunately we suffered a blackout about 2/3s of the way through the show and we couldn’t finish watching it.

Anyway I would love to see how the show ended and may even consider buying a copy if one is to be found. The problem, I don’t recall the name of the program. I’ve tried googleing it and all I’m getting is karate kid, which while I like the original movies, its not exactly what I’m looking. I've also checked youtube, it doesn't have it.So I was wondering if anyone knows the name of this show, or if anyone could help me track it down. I would be much appreciated.

Huh, that does sound interesting. Do you recall when you watched it, and what channel you watched it in?

If I recall correctly it was four or five summers ago now, it was on the action channel back before it became Encore action.

If Bruce Lee was actually in it, then it might show up in IMDB's list (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000045/).

Taking a brief Google search myself, my thought is that the Kyukushin kaitan and that the movies could have been from the trilogy of Champion of Death, Karate Bearfighter, and Karate for Life. But mind that I have no idea what I'm talking about aside from Google-fu.

Naww Bruce lee wasn’t in it. But he was mentioned by name. IIRC the speaker mentioned him in reference to two other Wing Chun practitioners (both of which got their butts kicked) and if memory serves he mentioned him as deceased.

Fighting Black Kings?

A (first ever?) kyokushin karate tournament in Japan, with participants from Japan, Europe and North Americe. It's also VERY obviously from the 70s.
