While I'm still hoping that Mad Al will join the roster, I'd like to point out that if Al remains off the roster that the prize winnings are incorrect.
For a FFA with only 3 entering players the prizes are:
1st: 1000 XP, 900 GP (or possibly 800 XP 900 GP)
2nd: 200 XP, 300 GP (or possibly 400 XP 300 GP)
3rd: 0 XP, 0 GP.
According to the rules, whenever a player is defeated in a FFA the XP/GP for defeating them is divided equally to all the survivors. While a player who never shows up still provides XP if listed (DQ by 3-day start failure), by precedent characters never gain XP from an opponent not listed in a match.
Usually this occurs in 1v1 when a player is denied an opponent because of a double loss in the proceeding match, but I believe the principle applies here as well.

About your purchases, are Conflict/Fate, Force, and Physical mantel powers really considered to be on the class list for an Ardent with only the Elements/Freedom mantels? Since squirrel is incapable of learning the vigor/offensive prescience/force screen powers I'm skeptical that he would be able to manifest them from power stones.

Ah, that may well be true. The only other mention of the topic I could find does seem to agree with you. That... rather drastically lowers the Ardent's usefulness, but no matter. Squirrel's sole goal of any value is to be as fast as possible, after all. :smalltongue:

Why does Earth Walk work?
All Map Rules
All arenas, unless otherwise stated, are walled in, with doors for gladiators that start closed. The walls are 30' high with a climb DC of 30.
Even though there is no ceiling on many maps, you cannot shoot arrows over walls without a special ability to do so. It may be parabolic motion in your physics class, but in the arena, all ranged effects are straight lines that extend to their maximum range and then abruptly stop.
Unless an Arena specifies that a spell doesn't work it works as normal. E.g. Entangle
If no Climb DC is listed for a wall, it is considered to be perfectly smooth and vertical, i.e. unclimbable.
That rule clause.
Just as Entangle is assumed to functions normally even though few of the maps actually list vegetation, or even dirt, I'd assume Earth Walk would also function wherever the wall material is ambiguous.

Denying Earthwalk would be rather harsh, I'd only do so on maps where it's obvious(the glass panes in various Arenas, Clouds...). Earthwalk works on all surfaces that are not spelled out to be a certain material(quicksand on Sambusei etc). Consider this an official ruling

however,
High Jump
A high jump is a vertical leap made to reach a ledge high above or to grasp something overhead. The DC is equal to 4 times the distance to be cleared.
If you jumped up to grab something, a successful check indicates that you reached the desired height. If you wish to pull yourself up, you can do so with a move action and a DC 15 Climb check. If you fail the Jump check, you do not reach the height, and you land on your feet in the same spot from which you jumped. As with a long jump, the DC is doubled if you do not get a running start of at least 20 feet.
this option is listed under high jump, you performed a long jump. It's a little questionable, though I'd tend to allow grabbing the edge with a long jump unless another Ref objects

Ammunition
Projectile weapons use ammunition: arrows (for bows), bolts (for crossbows), or sling bullets (for slings). When using a bow, a character can draw ammunition as a free action; crossbows and slings require an action for reloading. Generally speaking, ammunition that hits its target is destroyed or rendered useless, while normal ammunition that misses has a 50% chance of being destroyed or lost.
If Kiranova is hit, they are destroyed, otherwise there's 50 %(unless attacking an empty square and rolling 5+ is considered a hit since technically the square was targeted, but I doubt it)

Can I distinguish one scent from another? Yes, provided that the below isn't true:
False, powerful odors can easily mask other scents. The presence of such an odor completely spoils the ability to properly detect or identify creatures
Can I automatically identify a scent?
Probably yes.
Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
Precedent says we know what our opponents look like since we get told opponent names instead of appearances in LoS spoilers, so arguable their odors are recognizable too.
Regardless, at the very lest I can should recognize Squirrel's scent after seeing and being adjacent to Sallera's character, and I'd argue that after our last match Mad Al would recognize Kiranova's too.
Not sure if Morekal would have registered as "You scent Morekal" "You scent a Human" or "You gain a new scent" however. Morekal, however, is no longer an issue in this match.

no, I think that's all. The lacking borders in the J line are hard to notice because of the relatively small contrast between the dark brown and black, I only found it when I tried coloring in one of the sqares and suddenly four of them were...(I don't think telling that one of you was up there once is giving away anything)

If you shoot or throw a ranged weapon at a target engaged in melee with a friendly character, you take a -4 penalty on your attack roll. Two characters are engaged in melee if they are enemies of each other and either threatens the other. (An unconscious or otherwise immobilized character is not considered engaged unless he is actually being attacked.)

Dig it up then. There are certain spells/abilities that affect your allies(usually in a set radius), and this is assumed to include yourself by most people I know of(which can be troublesome with White Raven Tactics though, popular abuse to use it on oneself)

Alas, I am currently stymied in my search for precedent by the fact that this does not involve any good, easily searchable terms, and that the prospect of manually sifting through every match thread from the past couple years is far too daunting for me to do just to prove a point. I am quite sure it's there, however. Just need to find out where to look.
Of course, you can always just kick it up to Kyeudo now, since ultimately that's where it'll end up.

I seem to recall past precedent upholding the penalty for shooting into melee with yourself rulings. Can't remember where but I wouldn't be surprised if one of my own guys hasn't found himself on the pointy end of that bit of RAW.

It's a clarification ("including himself"). In other words, "himself" is part of the group "his allies." I presume it's worded that way to prevent this exact problem, but clearly they didn't do a very good job. Not that, you know, that's anything new. :smalltongue:

I am going to call that a character making a ranged attack while threatened does not take the -4 penalty for firing into melee if he is the only one currently threatened.

Alright, I should have known the books would only try to obfuscate the matter further. Still, here's what we have. RC revises the description of the firing into melee condition to specify 'ally'.
If you shoot or throw a ranged weapon at an opponent engaged in melee with an ally, you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll. Two creatures are engaged in melee if they’re opponents of each other and either threatens the other.
And as I thought, the PHB glossary provides the "definition" of an ally:
ally: A creature friendly to you. In most cases, references to allies include yourself.
That "most cases" line is a little unclear, but I would think it means "unless specified otherwise," since I can't think of any other way to rule it that doesn't leave every single mention of the word open to interpretation.

Turns out the only past instance I could find was for one of the De'Athbypro Xie vs. Sturmherz matches I had against TheFallenOne: but one match doesn't exactly make much precedent.
I'm sure there are others, but the Google Spider seems to only remember the last 6 months or so of Arena stuff.
Excerpt from the Glossery:
Ally: A creature friendly to you. In most case, references to "allies" include yourself.
Further research indicates a conflict between the PHB "Shooting into Melee" description with the SRD version of same.
The PHB version contains the text:
... you take a -4 penalty on your attack roll because you have to aim carefully to avoid hitting your friend.
It appears they changed "friend" to "ally" at one point for clarification, and deleted the above at the same time. The change isn't listed in the last PHB erreta I checked, so I'm not sure when/where it was changed.

It's just elimination order. If someone decided to heal me or somesuch, I'd be back in, but aside from that highly unlikely circumstance, Squirrel's out. Fairly sure a bleed-off only counts as a tiebreaker for the two involved.

You know, this Kiranova character is extraordinary succesful... and.. I've been thinking a lot of it. It may just be luck, I mean a 22 and a 26 to hit you... But on the other side...
She was created based on my ex-girlfriend, her name is Karin, she liked a lot russian things, she also learned russian. so... Kiranova contains her name "russianed"
And to be honest I miss her so much, we used to play D&D together, she had a male character named Aramil who was in love with Abogralia...
Now why I'm a saying this? I dunno I really need to talk it....
And now Kiranova hits Level 3...

psionic items were a deathtrap in this match, it was unbelievable to watch
And I still have no clue why you decided to collect the used up powerstones, even if there were powers left in them you wouldn't be able to use them

Kiranova saw surpringly little of the action, narrowly not having LoS I think twice. She was though once standing not 10 feet away from Morekal and I think 15 from you

Yah, I didn't want a repeat of our 60 round match last time and was glad for Squirrel help.
My biggest thought on this match is that Scent must be over-rated. I still can't believe Mad Al spent 20 rounds running around getting scent locks on everyone but Kiranova.

that was part bad luck, part good movement of Kiranova. When you guys got dangerously close, she ran in the opposite direction two times and got good rolls on those move silentlies with -20.
Scent has two problems: short range and even then you won't get the direction of the scent without an extra move action. If you'd used stealth too so Kiranova wouldn't have seen you approaching it might have worked, or if you had more raw speed to simply cover a good part of the map in a single move like Sturmerz. Squirrel with Scent would have found Kiranova incredibly fast

I'm just annoyed that morekal gets nothing out of the match due to a team up and Miss Invisible and Avoiding Everything over there. :smallannoyed: Good match though.
