I got the urge, now that I have some free time, to make a Let's Play. And yes, I can hear your "Oh god, another one." from here.

I went out and typed up a long, screencap heavy intro (Meaning, like, three. That weren't mine. I can't take screencaps on this computer for some reason.), and then thought I should get the first video uploaded before I post. (A good idea, in retrospect.)

I tried Fraps, but along with it being a trial version/purchase to get rid of the watermark, it wouldn't record sound. Then Chrome crashed and I lost my post, and I gave up for a day or two. By now, I've tried some other stuff, too, but it didn't even record the game, unless it was windowed.

Anyway. Wondering what is recommended for recording a text-heavy game?

I'm not sure, but I would assume that this is the right board for this subject.

Well, what sort of text-heavy game? Something like NetHack you could easily just use the normal ALT+PrintScreen key and paste the result into a document directly!

As I mentioned, I can't take screenshots on my computer.

That said, I was considering two games, ahem;

For #2, it loses a hell of a lot of the atmosphere without sound, (and audio logs), and for #1, well, it seems a shame to LP a game that is on multiple list for "Best soundtrack ever", if I can't record the sound. Also, far more text than I could fit into screencaps. My only hope was that people could read the text from a youtube video.

Oh come ON, people, they're both good games!

The only thing I can suggest is to check out this guy's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M11RkNmJBs4) website. I agree it's a great game, and deserving of better than a speed run, but unfortunately I don't really have time to research it myself.

Good luck!

I use Snapz Pro X for my computer game LPs (for non-computer video games, I use a camcorder and Final Cut) and love it, but that's a Mac program.
