How do infusions and invocations interact with spellcasting requirements and "+1 level of existing spellcasting class" things on prestige classes?

The rules for warlocks and prestige classes are covered p18 of complete arcane. The rules for artificers and prestige classes are covered p53 of magic of eberron. Basically, artificers can take them as long as they don't ask for a specific spell or arcane/divine magic. Warlocks can take them as long as they don't ask for a spellcaster level.

Actually, they can take the ones that ask for a spellcaster level. (e.g. Paragnostic Apostle.) It's the ones that say "able to cast X level spells" that they can't take.

However, they can qualify for the latter with another class, then advance Warlock upon entry. (For example, dipping a level of wizard or sorcerer to gain access to Mystic Theurge, then theurging Cleric/Warlock with that class.)

The Nosomatic Chirurgeon PrC from Dragonmarked is a way to gain access to such classes without losing any invoker levels. The first level gains you Pestilential Touch, which lets you spontaneously lose a spell or SLA to cast an inflict spell of equal or lower level. However, the prereqs of the class are pretty harsh, so it's questionable whether it's actually worth it.
