Stormbringer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stormbringer) is the infamous Runeblade wielded by Michael Moorcock's Elric and serves as much of the original inspiration for D&D's artifact and intelligent weapon rules. With that out in the open, how would you stat it up? Would you also make a Weapon of Legacy or Legendary Weapon? I'd just like some help with this little project.

It'd probably be a semi-sentient artifact. High ego.

+5 Greatsword, drains 1d10+20 points of Charisma with each hit. Any creature that dies from Charisma drain has its soul sucked out and absorbed by the sword. These deaths can't be reversed via anything short of deific intervention or epic magic.

For every HD the sword has absorbed, it grants the wielder +1 to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, up to a maximum of +10 (maybe a bit higher?), though 'soul dice' continue to accumulate after this point.

Captured souls are consumed at the rate of 1 HD per week.

Stormbringer and Mournblade would probably both be epic intelligent weapons with very high ego scores.

It should be made from Thinaun, from Complete Warrior, but its magical properties cause any soul captured to be devoured. Make it sized for a large creature, and give it the Balanced special property (A&EG), a +2 equivalent which allows it to be wielded as though it were one size smaller.

Definitely an intelligent item, most likely chaotic evil aligned. The story says it's a demon who's taken the form of a sword, but you could probably adapt that to 3.5. Say a powerful demon was the first creature slain by the weapon, and that the sword was lost or discarded shortly after. The demon's powerful soul inhabited the thinaun weapon for so long that they became one, and the demon learned that it could use the weapon to devour others' souls in order to sustain itself.

I'd give it the Wrathful Healing property, from Enemies and Allies (sidebar on page 20). It's a +3 equivalent which heals the wielder an amount equal to any damage it deals, including bonuses from strength or power attack, every time it deals damage. As one of its intelligent item special abilities, you could make it keep Strength of My Enemy (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/strengthofMyEnemy.htm) continually active, probably as though augmented to 21 powerpoints for a maximum Strength bonus of +20. This would make it grant the wielder considerable strength and vitality, as described in the wiki.
