I have a player who's playing a Druid and when he gets to 5th in the class I don't want to have to deal with Wildshape(as he's inexperienced, I don't want him to deal with it either). I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good replacement, so far I've found ones in: PHBII, Dragon Magic, and UA. Any suggestions?

If he has decent stats and likes archery for instance over a summoning, rain-fire-from-above battlebeast then the aspect of nature from UA is pretty neat.
It gives all the utility of wildshape without the actual losing of humanoid form.

I'd really complain more about the summoning

Well, you found most of the druid variants then, if you've got the PHB2 and UA. I personally would use the UA variant on page 58 for the favored enemy/track/unarmored AC bonus. Combining it with the Druidic Avenger variant on 51 sounds like a lot of fun to play.

Edit: also, you can find what I believe to be a comprehensive list of Druid class variants here (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=1354.0)in the third post.
