I was scrollin through the bestiary and realized that Illithids aren't there, not even under mindflayer. are they coming in B2? it's odd they would leave such a well known monster out of it

Illithids, along with Beholders and several Iconic monsters, are the product identity of Wizards of the Coast, and you cannot make OGL copies of them, so, never. :smalltongue:

They aren't in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/monsters.htm) either. (but scorpionfolk and razor boars are)

Really? Is razor boar really a well-known ICONIC D&D creature? I think not.

My point was that those two creatures aren't in the Monster Manual.

not in the default monster manual, but they were pimped out in the MM3 (i think) effectively stating "here are OGL monsters! Make OGL stuff! Get it published!"

EDIT: kinda like how a lot of UA stuff is in there, while not being in any of the 3 core books.

Phrenic Scourge in Psionics Unleashed resembles a Illithid in form and its abilities. I ran a game awhile back when I got the book, since there is no source material explain the pressence of several ilithid related creatures I ruled it that theyre a offshoot of the illithid race stuck on Golarion after a ship traveling the void crashed.

Indeed, I smiled when I read it. They skirted very close to the line (especially the picture) but managed to come up with something just unique enough to be beyond reproach.

In short, they answered the question: "How do you make a lawful evil, humanoid-shaped, tentacled psionic aberration that eats brains - unique?"
