So gestalt rules all well and fine, but I'm trying to reward players for playing weaker tier classes.
Basicly how I would do this is change the money gained (by wealth per level) and the points gained for point buy... If that makes sence.

(these shoes up as links for me, I don't know why. Mabey it's just me but please disregard the link bit, I'm a new poster :D)
So for level 10, what I have is
Tier / Cash / Point buy

Tier 1 15500 12
Tier 2 24500 18
Tier 3 29000 20
Tier 4 33000 22
Tier 5 39000 26
Tier 6 43000 30

Adding the two numbers together, for what class each half of the gestalt is on

Seems strong, mabey too strong? Would thi make you play a CW Samurai/warrior?

Under these rules you can barely play a caster (12 points, are you kidding?), you absolutely can't play gish, you can't play a battle cleric, and the list goes on. There is no point in lowering the amount of points higher tiers get, because it only removes option (they can still cast 9th level spells and win). However, adding points to lower tier is a good idea, but only maybe raising them to tier 3 for non-casters.

Actually what I think he's saying is that you take into concern each of the tiers of the class. So a Wizard//Druid would have 24 point buy but a Samurai//Warrior would have 60 point buy.

This may work but I've haven't had much experience with gestalt to say.

Malfunctions got it, I'm just really bad at comunicating my point

The money is based off tenth level wbl amounts, and you add those together too.

Something I was concerned with was wizard/commoner, just to be a pimped out wizard... Would that wizard be balanced vs gestalt you think? (as balanced as wizards get anyway)

I think you're better off scaling the point-buy from the highest tier class; i.e. the weaker class doesn't matter.

Gestalt is not as powerfull as people seem to think. any tier1//any tier 6, is still better any combination of tier 3, and most of the tier 2 combos. The spell lists are that good. and even archivist//wizards are going to max out int, and shaft the rest. The other stats don't matter because Tier 1 is universally SAD.

Wizard//Commoner

You now have 42 point buy. Go to town.

Or, in other words, I think ( for point buy ) it should be something like this.

{table=head]Other Gestalt Tier|Tier1|Tier2|Tier3|Tier4|Tier5|Tier6
Tier1|14 Point buy|16 Point buy|20 Point buy|22 Point buy|24 Point buy|26 Point buy
Tier2|16 Point buy|18 Point buy|22 Point buy|24 Point buy|26 Point buy|28 Point buy
Tier3|20 Point buy|22 Point buy|26 Point buy|28 Point buy|30 Point buy|32 Point buy
Tier4|22 Point buy|24 Point buy|28 Point buy|30 Point buy|32 Point buy|34 Point buy
Tier5|24 Point buy|26 Point buy|30 Point buy|32 Point buy|34 Point buy|36 Point buy
Tier6|26 Point buy|28 Point buy|32 Point buy|34 Point buy|36 Point buy|38 Point buy[/table]

That should more or less match up correctly.

Cool necrotic I like it. I think I'll use that instead next time I dm gestalt. Thanks slot :D

Now as for money... I think maybe just a percentage of wealth by level and then whatever they find in game is distribute normally?
Like a tier 1 gets 45% of WBL (so a t1/t1 gets 90% wbl)

Something like that sound fair?

That gives far too low of a point buy to everything not tier 1.

Ah. Then could you do a version of it please. Not trying to be snippy or anything, just curious on what you would do different.

I don't know how many problems this will solve.

Also, NecroticPunch, you say a Wizard//Commoner gets 42 points, but your table doesn't seem to reflect that. What's up with that? (Also, why not Wizard//Warrior or Wizard//Expert? :P)

Tier 1: 20/20/20/20/20/24. This relies on the assumption a T1 class will always be active, and will be using it's other class as a chassis; only T6 guarantees it isn't significantly strengthening it's passive side.

Tier 2: 20/24/24/26/28/30. T2 probably isn't as reliant entirely on it's T2 side, but it's still better to keep the PB rather low because it's mostly looking for passives (Sorcerer//Paladin, for example, works really well despite being T2/T5

Tier 3: 20/24/28/32/36/42. At this point, the other side of the gestalt is likely to offer a significant amount of active benefit and the tier of the passives is probably relevant as well.

Tier 4: 20/26/32/36/40/48. T4 probably needs its active side, and, well, pretty much everything is slotted into place. It gets high point buy with T5 and T6, but at that point you're probably two mundane martial classes gestalt so you need the bonuses.

Tier 5: 20/28/36/40/44/52. Nothing to say.

Tier 6: 24/30/42/48/52/60. Everything but the final thing is statted out, and all that is, is deciding whether you want to give it straight 16s (60) or 18s (96).
