I had an idea for a character, mainly using being a dark, fallen knight and the like for a core game, but the problem is that I couldn't think of any way to make a blackguard optimized. I'm only a yellow belt in opti-fu, so I would ask the masters for their aid in this endeavor

A two level dip would be good for a Gish.

The standard is Sorcadin, or rather Sorcaguard as it where.

Yes, but that's *expensive* to qualify for, just to get Charisma to saves. But I suppose in a Core-only game it could work.

By "core game" do you mean literally MM1 + DMG + PHB, or do you mean the SRD? (http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm) Because I rank the variant paladins above Blackguard, especially Paladin of Tyranny.

Hmm... my DM only told more core... I'll see if I can't convince him to allow the Paladin of Tyranny. It looks fun.

The only thing is, you wouldn't technically be a "fallen knight." The bad boy paladins kind of start their careers that way. :smalltongue:

Fair enough - I'm sure I can work that into the backstory somehow, start his fall much earlier and the like, so that it was still during his training.
