So if your playing a thrallherd could you chop up and feed the believers you attract to feed your hoard ? And they will keep getting replaced every 24 hours ?

And the DM will throw his pizza slice at you, so the player gets free food too. You can't lose!

Maybe if you're into cannibalism it would work, but when you actually need food you probably won't be near any fresh meat, so to speak, and the DM is well within his rights to keep the mechanic from working. Besides, if you really want a 'free food' class feature that recharges every 24 hours, Cleric's got you covered without being super creepy. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/createFoodAndWater.htm)

I think it could be pretty cool idea. A cult that attracts people then sacrifices them to their dark gods, feasting on the flesh of the believers (and enemies). Provides stuff that all good BBEG's need:

Foods for your followers
Power
That cool creepy vibe they all need.
Invokes disgust in the silly righteous do-gooders coming to battle him.

Well yeah, it makes more sense as a BBEG.

Then the player can be the BBEG

You get to use those thralls for food mentally
you get to cheat death on a DC 25 save... not that hard late in the game
It is a BBEG, they are suppose to use presteige classes that are narrowminded/bad

Wait, what? Isn't the idea of BBEG that they are much more powerful than the party, so that there is some actual tension and they need to bulk up before facing him and prepare for what he might throw at them? BBEGs likely are quicker to use Tainted Scholar or Planar Shepherd than Arcane Archer.

How about this for a riff on this theme:

Agents of the dark, necromantic cult of [insert setting appropriate death god here] have invaded the land. Their undead armies lay waste to all before them. Almost nowhere is safe; no fortress so impregnable that it cannot be overrun, or simply starved out, by the dark hordes.

However, word has spread of a man who offers safety, who appears out of nowhere just in advance of the oncoming hordes; a genial, fat, jolly fellow with a marvelous aura of bonhomie who feeds the starving on cartloads of dried sausage (EDIT: and meat pies), and who whisks whole villages and refugee columns away to some hidden place of safety.

They must be happy, wherever they are. After all, noone taken to safety by old Father Todd has ever come back.

So... the BoVD actually has rules for how much edible meat one can harvest off of a humanoid?

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that googling that didn't bring relevant results right away.

Seriously though, what's BoVD add to Thrallherd that makes it easier to get followers to eat? As far as I can tell, BoVD just capitalizes on the creepiness and includes willing deformity obese for playing it up.
