I reinstalled the audio driver, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Or possibly software, I don't really know. I have a pair of Skullcandy Lowrider (http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/configable/index/links/id/970/cid/7/) headphones. When setting up to record a "Let's Play!" with SuperGlucose, we realized some most of my hardware is damaged to some degree. Among the many problems, one of my two headsets no longer has functioning headphones. Well that's fine, I can just wear it around my neck and another pair of headphones on my head. I'll look silly, but no one's here but SG and my roommate who's seen me look sillier.

Here's where the problem starts. I don't usually use headphones with my laptop, I just keep what I'm doing quiet. But for recording I need to minimize sound looping. I put on my second pair of headphones and there's a REALLY annoying buzzing sound coming through them. I have no idea why, the headphones are fine though. I use them with my iPod all the time. I grab my Skullcandy FMJ's (http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/configable/index/links/id/1018/cid/6/) and get the same problem. I borrow my roommates fatty Sony headphones and SAME PROBLEM!

So, I'm thinking it may be a problem with my computer, so I hunt through the audio settings to make sure there's nothing that would have the mic open or something and running through my speakers. Nothing. I do however confirm that the problem is coming from the computer. When I "Mute all" the buzzing stops, however it's volume seems to be 100% independent of the computer's volume settings.

Any information on the subject would be much appreciated as my googling provided me with nothing useful, because IIRC Lowriders are cheap (relatively) headphones without noise cancellation technology.
