Private Server

Then there's the newest member of the GitP / ChHa server family, Drol and Girlfriend's Super Happy Fun Time. (SHaFT) This is a smaller, private server for use by us. It is password protected, so there'll be no disjointed gameplay.


When the comp team is having practice/holding a scrim, do not connect. There is a separate password for such, so unless you know the right password, you can't get on. When we aren't doing anything, everyone from GitP / ChHa is free to use it. (On the subject on the competitive team, do not ask to be on it. If the team want you to be on it, you will be contacted.)

Blast it! I'd forgotten Team Fortress 2 thought that TGA was the most effective form of screenshot.

Two things:
(1) Most advanced pictures viewers will convert this, IIRC. I used The GIMP for it and I'm pretty sure Photoshop will as well. Any advanced picture editor will allow you to open them and change format. Since I do photo work, I'm not familiar with other possibilities.
(2) I _think_ you can set up your own bind to avoid this. I believe the command is 'jpeg', e.g. "bind <key> jpeg".

If I recall correctly, GIMP requires me to open each photo and then hit "save as" in order to change it.

That's a bit of a pain, since I have a crapload of screenies.

Also, I've used GIMP for the .tga screen shots and yes, it does require you to open and hit save as so it is kinda tedious for more than 3 screen shots.

Oh yes, and I did not have fun at all getting killed so badly on KOTH maps in TF2. I suck at the singular, all-encompassing nature of KOTH and dislike CTF due to the monotony, preferring Payload or Control Point maps due to pace of battle, the styling of objectives and the incredibly large maps they offer.

A. Moving them from a safe place to a safe place, in which case it just eliminates the tedium of having to scavenge metal constantly.

B. Moving them from a safe place to a dangerous place, in which case I usually die or someone smashes the sentry as it builds.

Well... TF2 hates me.

I just finished moving all of my Steamapps folder from my failing XP drive to my shiny new Windows 7 drive, all 60 GBs of it.

After having problems getting Steam to start up properly and having to edit my registry to fix that, I finish updating the games that need it because the Steamapps folder is about a week old.

I finish updating TF2 and I go to click play. Up comes the Preparing to Launch box and then after a couple seconds it goes away, and nothing else happens. I try again. Nothing. Verify integrity. Defragment. Update Video Drivers. Restart. Still Nothing.

TF2 just won't launch.

You only have to use it once, though - obtain DLC, move the .esm file and the .bsa files to your data folder, and you never have to touch GFWL again and you can easily control it along with your other mods which you will certainly have started using by that point.

"My darling," Jibar said, stroking Phase's Moon, "I have something for you." He gave a box to Phase. "It is but a Jibarital token of my REALLY REALLY HUGE love."

Phase opened the box. Inside was a Jibal Muffin! He gazed at it Slowly. Then he gazed at Jibar Slowly. "It's Jibberum," Phase said. "Come here and let me love you."

Just then, a Jibbed crone sprang out of hiding and cackled Like that one time when Djinn and Gabe Newell got into an eating contest at the sword factory and there were no survivors. "Your happiness will not last!" she said in a Jibarful voice and dropped a piece of paper onto the dinner table.

Jibar read it. "It's a page from a diary. It says...it says that you're my brother."

They stared at each other Lustfully as the crone cackled some more. Phase's Money Maker began to tremble. Then Jibar shrugged, pulled out a Cat-Muffin, and hit the crone on her Cat-Muffin. She fell over dead.

"Do you suppose it's blinding here?" he asked typically.

Just then, a gargantuan spycrab leapt out from behind a cake and pooshed Dr. Girlfriend in the jaw. "Aaargh!" Dr. Girlfriend screamed.

Things looked pungent. But Djinn, although he was monstrous, knew he had to save his love. He grabbed a leetle kart and, like a rampaging walrus with a head full of PCP and the original latex fetish, beat the spycrab lasciviously until it ran off. "That will teach you to poosh innocent people."

On a green and impressive morning, Jibar sat on a tuna. It was Valentine's Day and he was all alone. His third rib on the left ached in sorrow for the secret love that he could never share. How could he expect Zooey Deschanel to love someone with a mysterious Achilles Heel?

Cheesey, he began to recite a poem he had composed. "Ah, my love is like a lucid demonstrative table, all on a summer's day. I wish my Zooey Deschanel would punch me, in her own poopy way..."

"Do you?" Zooey Deschanel sat down beside Jibar and put her hand on Jibar's funny bone. "I think that could be arranged."

They came together and their kiss was like a half-eaten tuna fish pie, glazed with the disappointment of a thousand Daredevil fans.

Destructive Lang Syne

Jibar sipped eternally at his drink and stood destructive behind a ghost. He wasn't sure why he had come to this New Year's Eve party in the first place. He was no good at parties anyhow. They always made him feel mysterious and he ended up like he was now, hiding and hoping nobody noticed how poopy his Achilles Heel got when he was nervous.

Well, truth be told, Jibar knew very well why he was at the party: to see Zooey Deschanel.

Ah, Zooey Deschanel. Just the thought of her, the chance of a glimpse of her impressive funny bone made Jibar's heart beat like a half-eaten tuna fish pie, glazed with the disappointment of a thousand Daredevil fans.

But tonight everyone was masked. Jibar peered cheesey through the crowd, trying to guess which guest was Zooey Deschanel. There, he thought, the woman over by the whale, the green one with the Cat-Muffin mask. It had to be Zooey Deschanel. No one else could look so demonstrative, even in a Cat-Muffin mask.

She began to walk Jibar's way and Jibar started to panic. What if she actually talked to Jibar?

Zooey Deschanel came right up to Jibar and Jibar thought that he was going to faint.

"Hello," Zooey Deschanel said fairly. "What are you doing over here all alone?"

"Oh, just looking at the table," Jibar said and immediately wanted to die because that sounded so lucid.

Just then, an euclidean voice began to count down. "Ten ... nine ... eight ... seven ..."

Jibar's heart leapt. If they were together at midnight, that meant that Zooey Deschanel might ...

"Happy New Year!"

Zooey Deschanel swept Jibar into her arms, bent him on a tuna, and kissed Jibar irrationally, slipping him the tongue and groping his third rib on the left.

Jibar could hardly believe it. How wonderful! And now that it was after midnight, it was time to take their masks off. He reached out positionally and pulled Zooey Deschanel's mask off her face. It was Zooey Deschanel! "I knew it was you," Jibar said and took his own mask off.

"And it's ... you," Zooey Deschanel said. "You know, I'm just going to go get some punch."

Jibar watched her go. She would be right back, Jibar was sure. Just as soon as she had her punch.

And then they would fall in love.

The Battle For The Whale

On a tuna, Jibar punched his whale. He had been busy with the whale for hours and now wanted nothing more than an impressive cuddle or a poopy massage from his lover Zooey Deschanel.

He said this last thought out loud, and all of a sudden his angry Zooey Deschanel appeared at the door, grinning positionally.

"Put down the whale," Zooey Deschanel said irrationally. "Unless you want me to punch that whale on your Achilles Heel."

Jibar put down the whale. He was euclidean. He had never seen Zooey Deschanel so green before and it made him mysterious.

Zooey Deschanel picked up the whale, then withdrew a table from her funny bone. "Don't be so euclidean," Zooey Deschanel said with a green grimace. "A Cat-Muffin bit my third rib on the left this morning, and everything became demonstrative. Now with this whale and this table I can irrationally rule the world!"

Jibar clutched his destructive third rib on the left cheesey. This was his lover, his angry Zooey Deschanel, now staring at him with a green funny bone.

"Fight it!" Jibar shouted. "The Cat-Muffin just wants the whale for his own angry devices! He doesn't love you, not the impressive way I do!"

Jibar could see Zooey Deschanel trembling cheesey. Jibar reached out his Achilles Heel and touched Zooey Deschanel's funny bone irrationally. He was angry, so angry, but he knew only his destructive love for Zooey Deschanel would break the Cat-Muffin's spell.

Sure enough, Zooey Deschanel dropped the whale with a thunk. "Oh, Jibar," she squealed. "I'm so impressive, can you ever forgive me?"

But Jibar had already moved on a tuna. Like a half-eaten tuna fish pie, glazed with the disappointment of a thousand Daredevil fans, he pressed his Achilles Heel into Zooey Deschanel's funny bone. And as they fell together in a demonstrative fit of love, the whale lay on the floor, mysterious and forgotten.

It was Christmas Eve. Jibar sat cheesey on a tuna, sipping impressive eggnog.

He looked at the mysterious table hanging on the Christmas Tree and sighed. Last year, Zooey Deschanel had hung it there, just before they looked at each other eternally and then fell into each other's arms and punched each other's third rib on the left.

If only I hadn't been so destructive, Jibar thought, pouring a demonstrative amount of rum into his eggnog. Then Zooey Deschanel might not have got so poopy and left me all alone at Christmas time. He wiped away an angry tear and held his Achilles Heel in his hand.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and then an euclidean voice lifted fairly up in song.

Sasha and Natasha were out for a cloaked Valentine's walk by the inteligence. As they went, Natasha rested her hand on Sasha's bald head. It was the most romantic walk ever. But even though the day was so diguised, Sasha was filled with baby dread.

"Do you suppose it's dispicable here?" she asked forcefully.

"You heavy silly," Natasha said, tickling Sasha with her sandvich. "It's completely orkoid."

Just then, a blu sentry leapt out from behind a BULLET and sapped Natasha in the leg. "Aaargh!" Natasha screamed.

Things looked red. But Sasha, although she was lustfilled, knew she had to save her love. She grabbed a gun and, like the claws of a crab, glistening in the sunlight, beat the sentry angrily until it ran off. "That will teach you to sap innocent people."

Then she clasped Natasha close. Natasha was bleeding sideways. "My darling," Sasha said, and pressed her lips to Natasha's Heavy Weapon.

"I love you," Natasha said lustfully, and expired in Sasha's arms.

Sasha never loved again.

I'm Dreaming Of A Sensual Christmas

It was Christmas Eve. Sniper sat Huskily under a setting sun, sipping cloaked eggnog.

He looked at the fearful watch hanging on the Christmas Tree and sighed. Last year, Spy had hung it there, just before they looked at each other discretly and then fell into each other's arms and backstabbed each other's mask.

If only I hadn't been so moist, Sniper thought, pouring a drab amount of rum into his eggnog. Then Spy might not have got so hot and left me all alone at Christmas time. He wiped away a Australian tear and held his hand in his hand.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and then a scary voice lifted lustily up in song.

Just then, a Assclown crone sprang out of hiding and cackled Assclown. "Your happiness will not last!" she said in a Assclown voice and dropped a piece of paper onto the dinner table.

Assclown read it. "It's a page from a diary. It says...it says that you're my brother."

They stared at each other Assclown as the crone cackled some more. Assclown's Assclown began to tremble. Then Assclown shrugged, pulled out a Assclown, and hit the crone on her Assclown. She fell over dead.

"Problem solved!" Assclown said and kissed Assclown Assclown. "This is a Assclown Valentine's Day!"

They Assclown burned the diary page in the candle and never told another soul.

From using the C&D and DR for so long, the regular Invisi-Watch feels like it has a really long cloak time and because you can recharge it with any source of ammo, you can go for quite some time like omfgninja did.

Not only did they make fun of themselves about Valve Time (which Polycount also wrote an article on), they included a remark about how the in-game attributes are going to ruin them:

The Special Delivery Pack: Cool, and a nifty idea, but I didn't realise those were the actual models, I thought they were just concept art. Oh well. A proper Pistol alternative should be interesting.

The Gas Man: Worth it alone for the Hammer replacement.

The Saharan Spy: Oh God. I never saw this during the contest but it's awesome. Our first alternative Knife.

I did love the Sniper pack and I was thinking that it was going to be an almost guaranteed winner.

The Soldier pack is quite nice and will be fun to use. I did not enjoy the Scout's too much because of no Scattergun replacement but it was the best Scout one I remember seeing. The Pyro's is awesome, especially the hammer. The Spy is nice, but I'm surprised it didn't get a new watch or some other item.

Poor Medic and Heavy, I thought they were going to pick the baking/chef heavy.
