View Full Version : The Star Wars References Strike Back

Dr.Epic

As we see in the last panel of 735 Rich has decided to continue with the Star Wars references. Any speculations on more Star Wars jokes? Two of the main characters are about to fight in a gladiator match like in Attack of the Clones. One of them could be a bloody midriff from a giant cat monster. Also, what about the title of the next book? Could it be a Star Wars pun or am I thinking too far ahead?

Not sure if Rich would want to emulate jokes from the prequel movies...

Though i might expect something like members of the OotS dressing up as guards
:roy: "aren't you a little short to be a guard"
:belkar: "...."

Oh and we can't forget
Tarquin: "elan, join me and we could rule the world as father and son!"
That's a pretty obvious one though...

Handle king : You drive the person who pick out! You this should ruin them ising not to join them! Bring the world brilliance, but is not to bring the blackness!

Decapitation existed long before Attack of the Clones.
And cutting off hands as significant in Star Wars also existed long before Attack of the Clones. Specifically, Empire Strikes back, where Vader cut off Luke's hand, and again in Return of the Jedi, where Luke cut off Vader's hand.

It almost seems like the star wars references extend beyond the puns. In #371, Miko is compared to Darth Vader as a joke. But in the end, she seems a lot like him. She ends up killing her master because of a plot of Xykon's. In some sense, the events of 406-409 are comparable to the end of the revenge of the sith. Miko is most similar to Anikin, Roy is Konobi (sp?), Shojo is somewhere in between Windu and Yoda. Hinjo is actually more like Padme. After Miko kills Shojo, Hinjo attempts to talk reason into her. But she loses control and attacks him.
Similar to Darth Vader, Miko considers her abilities superior to Roy, until he finally defeats her. It is a tad mixed up though, as in the OOTS version Yoda (Soon) is already dead.
After that, the Palidins have one more Jedi-like power: appearing after death as a positive energy spirit (#449).

Miko was the one who insisted the ruler was too corrupt to be allowed to stand trial and attacked him, remember?

So, no. If you want to draw a comparison to any really horrible movies, Miko is most like Mace Windu.

It almost seems like the star wars references extend beyond the puns. In The Scourge of Lordaeron, Arthas is comparable to Darth Vader. But in the end, he seems a lot like him. He ends up killing his people because of a plot of The Lich King's. In some sense, the events of Path of the Damned are comparable to the end of the revenge of the sith. Arthas is most similar to Anakin, Uther is Kenobi, Terenas is Windu. The people of Lordaron are like Padme. After Arthas kills the mercenaries he hired to burn the ships, Muradin attempts to talk reason into him. But he loses control and takes Frostmourne, killing Muradin.
Similar to Darth Vader, Arthas considers his abilities superior to the Light, until he is finally defeated. It is a tad mixed up though, as in the WoW version Arthas only repents when he is dying, as opposed to repenting and then being killed.
After that, Terenas has one more Jedi-like power: appearing after death as a positive energy spirit (FotLK).
