This computer is acting up pretty badly, so I am going to try to post this before it gets eaten. This creature is mostly an excuse to introduce Experience Drain (the little brother of Energy Drain). And yes, the vampire's name is supposed to be "unfitting"... because people with boring names get bitten by vampires too...

History: Unlike most of the more bizzare accidental creations of magic, the history of the verve stealer ooze is not only known, but extremely well documented. Silu Brown-thorn was elven sorcerer noted for his who had infused himself with the elemental esscense of fire. Silu was noted as a maker
of magical devices. He had made an enemy of a vampire by the name of Timothy. Timothy possessed a magical vest that made him invisible when he turned into mist. Fortunately for Silu, he had a warforged bodygaurd named Gaurd. Timothy was no match for the two of them, but had an uncanny knack
for knowing just when to turn to mist and flee and had to patience of the eternal to keep trying. Finally Silu decided something must be done, and determined to arm Gaurd with a powerful weapon specifically designed to counter Timothy's defenses. This would be his most complex project yet, and he knew if Timothy caught wind of it he would seek to interfere with the delicate process of enchanting it. For this reason he hired a wizard to transport himself and Silu to a village in a cold area (one of the last places you would expect a person with the elemental essence of fire to take refuge). The village was randomly selected by the wizard, and Silu and Gaurd did not even ask its name before they set out in a direction picked by Silu closing his eyes and spinning around quickly with his arm outstretched and heading off in the direction he came to rest pointing. Flying out from that place for several days, they stopped and Gaurd built a crude hut. Silu enchanted it (To Be Continued)

Combat: When feeding, verve stealer oozes go after the creature with the LEAST ECL that they can reach in a given round. Against foes that don't show up on its verve sense, or if reduced to half hit points or less, it always uses its slam for hitpoint damage instead.

Miscellanious Ecology: Verve stealer oozes gain the nutrients necessary to repair and expand their forms by engulfing plant and slowly digesting it.

Experience Drain (Su): Like some undead, the verve stealer ooze feeds on life energies. What make it unusual in this regard is how LITTLE it is able to take in one strike. 100 XPs restored per Restoration, Lesser, 100 per caster level or victems level which ever is less per Restoration, all by a single casting of Restoration, Greater. A verve stealer ooze can gain no sustainance from individuals that can not advance by class levels. Thus a human or a dragon (regardless of if that individual has any intention of ever taking class levels) could provide it sustanance, but a deer, owlbear, or rat could not.

Sense Verve (Su): A verve stealer ooze can detect creatures capable of gaining class levels within 30*(the creatures ECL) feet, much like blindsight. Unlike blindsight this functions through any sort of material other than the following: fire, lead, and force effects.

Skills: Verve stealer oozes gain a +20 racial bonus to disguise themselves as grass. Knowledge (Nature), Knowledge (Arcana), OR Survival may be substituted for spot on this check (roll only once, rolling whichever check modifier is higher for that individual).
