Revisiting this topic, alright, the Shadow Dancer has to be one of my favorite prestige classes, it's packed full of flavor and finesse, but really, its class features really lack the oomph to bring it to the offensive front it was made to be in.

Generally speaking, me and my friends just use the Pathfinder version of the Shadow Dancer, along with some feats from " UndeFEATable 20: Shadow Dancers " , to bring them up to par with other melee classes.

But on the 3.5 Side of things, I'd like to bring up an argument again.

In the 3.5 Shadow Dancer prestige class table, the class ability " Summon Shadow " is listed three separate times.

See: http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/shadowdancer.html

As a companion class feature, this is unique to the Shadow Dancer as every class that ever obtains a companion ( or Familiar/Mount whatever... ) , is given A ) One entry that says " Obtain Familiar " or " Animal Companion " or " Special Mount " or whatever... and also B) The companion obtainment entry is only listed once, along as being supplied with a table.

See:

Druid - " http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/druid.html "
Ranger -" http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/ranger.html "
Wizard - " http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/wizard.html "
Paladin - " http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/paladin.html "

These all share the same consistency. All of these links and vague arguments pretty bring me to the point that I believe that Shadow Dancers get three Shadow Companions (by level 9) not just one. This is further supported by the fact that the Epic Shadow Dancer has " Summon shadow (four of 9 HD each), shadow jump (320 ft.) " listed as its 12th level class feature, and that, if what I think is true, that would fit the progression of HD and Shadow Number perfectly, ( Level 9 you would have 3 Shadows of 7HD ) .

See: " http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/epicPrestigeClasses.html#epic-shadowdancer "

The Shadow Dancer is by no means overpowered or even good with this change, 3 Shadows doing 1d6 Strength isn't game breaking, but it does add at least a little bit of power to the ever so small power curve of the Shadow Dancer.

( You could make a pretty cool " Shadow Master " based build with a few feats from UndeFEATABLE 20 though, if your DM lets you use Pathfinder feats in 3.5 , one that Splits your Shadows into two, and another that increases their HP to 75% your own, and adds 1 strength damage/4 Shadowdancer levels to their touch attacks) .

Just wanting to spread some love for an underpowered class.

Cheers.

In 3.0 edition the shadowdancer did indeed get 3 shadows, and the Epic rules are 3.0 edition (only a small part got updated to 3.5 edition). However text triumphs table so the (poor) shadowdancer gets only one shadow at 3,5 edition Until he reaches epic levels where (unless there is errata) he gains four shadows. I believe the table to be a hold over from 3.0 edition.

Don't get me wrong i do believe that should be houseruled but this is RAW.
On an unrelated note where can i find this undeFEATable project?

They're Paizo's deal, the people who make Pathfinder release supplemental feat PDF's for the community to purchase every now and then, they're like 2 bucks or something, and not very plentiful on the torrent Black Market.

I own the one for Rogues, Monks, and Shadowdancers, as I had some pocket change in my PayPal and was hellbent on making a good Shadow Dancer.
