Every round, on your character’s turn, you may take a standard
action and a move action (in either order), two move actions, or one
full-round action. You may also perform one or more free actions
along with any other action, as your DM allows.

quoted from the players handbook

the problem that has arisen is that one of the players in my game is arguing that you can switch out move actions for standard actions.

the only rules i have seen for this allow you to dump a standard action for a move action

now am i right or is the player right on this issue?

Player is an idiot. You can trade a standard for a move as a special function. It doesn't work the other way.

Yeah, wizards have enough nice things without being able to pump out two spells per round without metamagic or tricks.
